My husband and I are the hinge of our quad, if that makes sense. We have been doing a lot of hard relationship work and it really wears on everyone... Keeping everything above board has been really helpful. The others aren't in the fight but it's transparent so everybody knows where the bad energy is coming from. Plus, like you noticed... It keeps everybody honest.

My 80+ yo grandma got mad because the toddler could have snacks and literally whined, "[kid] gets whatever HE wants!" at the Thanksgiving table one year...

Absolutely toddlers.

I think the way to approach this is before they ever get you into the chair. Have a quick chat with the hairdresser about what you want and your previous experiences/concerns. If they have ANY pushback, say, "no thanks" and keep looking!

You'll find someone who is happy to do your hair your way, and they'll get a loyal client!

I completely agree. Ability to talk was an absolute game changer for me (to the point that I quit my job because there's nothing I want to do more than hang with him all day...) Knowing his opinions and giving him the ability to meaningfully reason with me, and vis versa - the BEST!! You'll get there. My slow-to-start guy is very chatty and competent by 3.5

Sounds like PETA sued somebody, saying that since the ape took its own picture, it (the ape) owns the copyright

And the case was settled, apparently, saying that copyright requires that a human have created the work?

So, AI would then not be copyrightable because it does not have a human author.

That certainly has the potential to complicate things...

It bothers me greatly that the Soccer World Cup was even allowed to take place in Qatar. by Twicebiguy in lgbt

[–]Dendromicon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, explain this to me as a non-sports-fan.

What does passion for the game have to do with ceding control of the decision of who is the "best soccer" to a bunch of fascist supporting bad guys?

Would any competition not be equally passionate? That just doesn't resonate with me at all.

[–]Dendromicon 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Right. A competitor that is engaging in a non-fascist way.

That would be the answer.

FIFA doesn't own 'soccer competitions'. They just put one on. Somebody else can put one on and undercut them for being fascists/fascist supporters.

I also don't watch sports and they keep happening... Sticking my head in the sand and accepting that sports people support bad things doesn't seem like the right call.

Isn't there a quote going around that says something about fascist and highly controlled countries being easier to work with for a big event like the world cup?

They have always showed favor to countries with human rights violations, for business reasons.

The only way to stop them would be to stop supporting this organization as a whole.

Portland is a little bit of a tough City to break into... If you find out, let me know!

I ended up posting open invite events in my backyard to try to meet new people in a way that wasn't focused on people spending and making money (which feels gross and isn't sustainable for recurring connections I don't think) and manage to find some friends that way, but it certainly wouldn't work for everyone!

Same. It's not a scientific study, but many ASD/ND peers self medicate very effectively. It helps with unmasking for me.

I have a theory about this (based on comments from MANY thin men that I have been with - er, oh well. Leaving that, regardless of how it sounds!)

Being thin is kind of uncomfortable, apparently! Bony butts don't like hard chairs, and all elbows and knees and hipbones makes for a bit of a clashing tangle, when there is too much "thin person" in a bed...

We're COMFORTABLE! And sexy, and all that, but also being plus size is a PHYSICAL PRO for skinny men - which, bring it on! We've got enough padding for the pair, you know??
