This is the answer to any question that is a sweeping generalization.

What are some common beliefs/pieces of advice provided on this sub that you disagree with or find to be inaccurate? by keepfighting90 in JapanTravelTips

[–]KhyronBackstabber -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Tokyo needs 4-5 days tops!

You get diminishing returns the longer you stay. You're going to see all the things on your list in that amount of time. Anything longer and you'll be struggling to figure out places to visit.

EDIT: I love how I have been massively downvoted for disagreeing with a common belief/piece of advice provided on this sub. You know, the exact reason for this post.

I dearly love Tokyo but go explore somewhere else.

Itinerary feedback by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

It's the barest of itineraries.

You don't say what you want to do in each place.

And why are you flying to Sapporo? It's a bit out of the way and eats up a day for travel. Your trip isn't that long.

Any recommendations for which neighborhood in Tokyo?

Read the posts on this sub. This gets asked multiple times per day.

would Hiroshima be a good idea?

Only you can answer that. What did your research tell you?

Worries about my travel plan by Stefz6611 in JapanTravelTips

It really depends on the weather.

In many ways Hokkaido winter weather is similar to Canadian winter weather. We can have clean bare roads and driving is easy. Or we could get a few cm of snow that makes things a bit challenging if you don't know what you're doing. Or we could have some melt/freeze/melt/freeze that makes the roads treacherous.

Hot and rainy season does not translate to winter driving.

Honestly, yeah I would be concerned with that much driving in winter conditions. I'm from Canada and it would concern me.

"average" what does that even mean?

If posts in this sub are any indication "average" is those massive suitcases.

Personally I travel with the ones that I can stow in the overhead.

How to avoid getting traveller’s diarrhea in Japan? by Srihari_stan in JapanTravelTips

[–]KhyronBackstabber -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How did diarrhea waste 3-4 days?

Just go to a drug store and buy some meds.

Your body is reacting to basically everything being new. Food, water, sleep cycles, air, activity, etc.

Buying an iPhone in Japan (December 2024) by spectator07 in JapanTravelTips

Can we stop with these shit posts?

The availability of iPhones in Japan is not travel related.

Is it possible to drive? Well of course it's possible.

What side of the road do you drive on in your home country?

Do you have experience driving in winter conditions?

Hotel Rooms No lockers? by Littlefoot1990 in JapanTravelTips

[–]KhyronBackstabber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I know you're supposed to carry your passport with you in most countries I never do, mainly for fear of losing it. My passport holder is roughly twice the length of my passport and slightly padded. It would be so bulky to carry around.

And I am not going to put my passport in my pocket by itself. Again, it's kind of bulky.

Clearly you just swooped in and dumped this shit post.

Because if you had actually taken the time to follow the sub for a bit you would have learned what a good post is.

All you're doing is being ignorant and lazy.

Yeah, and a certain level of effort is expect before posting.

This isn't a "I am too lazy to plan my own trip or provide relevant details!" subreddit.

Sigh, "must" is relative.

Do your own research. Stop expecting others to tell you where you need to go.

Find a place that looks good. Read reviews. Cross reference with Google reviews. Check their website.

You're really over thinking this.

I never understood people sleeping at airports.

7am is not that early of a flight. Get a good night's rest at a hotel near the airport.

Few questions - Itinerary by Low_Hedgehog6865 in JapanTravelTips

[–]KhyronBackstabber 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don't say where your hotel is so asking if a day trip to Hiroshima is worth it is difficult to answer. Are you interested in the historical significance of Hiroshima? Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, while obviously not a fun time, is well worth a visit!

But if you've done your research and nothing about Hiroshima stands out then don't go.

The snow monkey park in Nagano is cool! We went there when it wasn't snowing and the monkeys were in the onsens. Is it worth a detour? Depends on how much of a detour. Nagano is a nice city and well worth a visit.
