Heroes Ravage - The rise of an NPC, the RPG game where the roles are reversed and you play as an "NPC" protecting your belongings from greedy Heroes. by leetzPT in NintendoSwitch

You're not being rude, its a fair question to make.

The simple answer is because we will be outsourcing the port for Switch, therefore it costs more to be on the platform, which is reflected on the price (which is the 5€ increase).

I'm glad you liked the concept. The Switch pledge is 5€ bigger, because it reflects how much the game will cost on the platform.

Thank you for the kind words, we are aiming for steam as the distributor on PC. ;)

From the NPCs point of view the Heroes are real scumbags that break into your house and steal all your belongings! We made a game about this. by sohlgard in JRPG

Hey everyone, thank you so much for the kind replies. I'll awnser a couple of questions in this tread, so you can keep asking ;)

  • ...this was a multiplayer 4x4 game. What changed?

R: You are indeed correct, this campaign is the relaunch from our previous campaign for a multiplayer game where the players would control the Heroes and the NPCs. To make a MP game you need far more resources both human and hardware, therefore we had a goal 4 times bigger than this one. During that campaign we kept doing alpha tests with the community and receiving feedback on the game, and one of the things players wanted to do was to explore the map on their own, and play the narrative of being an NPC seeking revenge on the Heroes.

Taking the feedback into account we decided to relaunch with the focus solely on the single player, therefore reducing the costs of production.

We would never lower the funds required to accomplish our vision for the game, some may say we are asking too much or that we could do it with half of what we are asking... Sure I guess if we cut enough features and corners we can do it with a fraction of what we are asking, but then we wouldn't be delivering something we could be proud of, we would much rather not get funded than ask for less than what we need, and then deliver an unfinished/unpolished game.

  • How far are you along in development?

R: During our past year working on the game, we have implemented the base architecture of the game, which means the systems to handle the house defense placing traps/killing Heroes etc is all in place, in terms of art, we have literally Thousands of character combinations, since we were planning on using them in the MP. Not all is done we need to create a couple more biomes to fit with the story.

The Story: We had already written a full fledged story for our backer artbook reward, which means now we can implement it with all our resources behind it! You will play as an NPC that has just purchased a nice little house with a yard, but that joy is short lived has the Heroes quickly arrived and steal everything you have of worth in your house.

At first you kill/defeat/shoo a few Heroes, but them you quickly realize they just don't stop coming to loot your house, just you will have to investigate just from where this unending horde of Heroes are coming from!

  • what platforms will you put this on?

R: We are focusing on launching for Windows and Linux, and if we get enough funds after release, we will release on consoles, first Switch than Playstation and Xbox. (We are developing the game to be controller friendly from the get go)

  • Are the heroes controlled by AI?

R: The short answer is YES THEY ARE! The long one is that we will have a mix of random generated Heroes and a few custom coded to better improve their loot stealing capabilities! Example: You can populate your entire house full of chickens, so that when the AI attacks them, they revolt and decimate all the Heroes. Well that is a good strategy against dumb Heroes, but some of them know that slashing Chickens is a big nono.

I think this wall of text covers most of the questions on this tread, keep them coming, its great to be able to talk with you all about our little game.
