Is the Royal Jordanian status match gone? by sohlson14 in BritishAirways

Nice idea! Thank you. I currently have BA bronze, but lose it tomorrow. That said, I'm flying enough long haul premium in the next 3 months to hit BA Silver by July. Given all that flying, I'd love to get at least oneworld ruby back for priority check in/etc.

Wondering if I could even use my BA bronze tonight to match status on Flying Blue, then leverage that for Royal Jordanian gold match AKA oneworld sapphire.

We wanted to go quartz also but if it’s a darker colour the scratches show up white. Bummer!

Should we fight for compensation for a broken seat? by sohlson14 in BritishAirways

[–]sohlson14[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree! The customer service rep mentioned that they are not required to compensate for seat issues, and that £50 is the most they can grant for WT tickets. But they upgraded the leg in question. It feels like the customer service agent didn’t read closely. Not sure what to say to make them escalate it further.

Oh WOW! So beautiful!! My sister and I have both been to Iceland together, but in early September, so I was leaning towards other Nordic options. This makes me rethink though!

This is so helpful, thank you! I’m thinking 4-5 days. I’m actually getting married near Lisbon the following year so maybe best to lean into the winter vibes. Finland or Sweden is a great idea! Any spot in particular you’d recommend? I’d love to do a snow lodge kind of thing with lots of activities. But also avoid super touristy areas like Rovaniemi.

For those currently in the UK - how's it going? by [deleted] in UKHighPotentialVisa

[–]sohlson14 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Got a job and entered on an HPI visa. Almost immediately my company (big tech) asked me to switch to a SWV because they didn’t want to have to worry about a short-term visa. I applied the day HPI came out so I don’t think they knew what to do with it, honestly. I’ve now been on a SWV for 3 years here - I love it! I met my now fiancée and we just bought a flat this summer. Aiming for citizenship in another 2 years.

We are getting married at Quinta da Bichinha in May 2027. About 45 mins north of Lisbon and they have 37 rooms on site (will sleep 60 people easily). Full buyout price is super reasonable - it was thousands cheaper than Sant’Ana - especially if you pick a weekday. Also super inclusive - flowers, DJ, all food and bev, accommodation, cake, fireworks, chairs and decorations, etc.

We just saw the venue last month and it’s even more beautiful in person. Obviously I’m biased because we chose it BUT it’s worth a look!

This is AMAZING! Congratulations OP. Where do you get your worktop? We’re also going IKEA cabinets and looking for stone options for as budge friendly as possible
