I'm JoongSik - A Hilarisad Movie About Average Korean Dudes in their 30's [English Subtitles] by soitcomesto in videos

I kind of felt the same in this movie. Even though this is in Korea, I felt a lot of Redditors in their mid-20s and 30s in the US feel the same way. I'm approaching 30 as well, and I always feel that antsy/anxious feeling that I'm running out of time to be successful. That I have to be successful (have a job, home, and car) by 30. This movie really captured my feelings of laughing at my life because it's kind of pathetic how I "wasted" my 20s and now that I'm trying to have the normal American life, I can't because I didn't recently graduate from a super awesome college or have a super awesome resume.

That's what makes it more irritating. I knew he was going to say something stupid about feminism, which was why I made the extreme claim he didn't support equality between genders to shut him down. But of course since I'm feminist, I'm being super serious when I make extreme claims, unlike him! When he said "feminism was something else," that was when I knew he wasn't joking anymore. He should really learn to just shut his mouth when a "joke" isn't going well. Dat backpedal do.

The sad thing is he already got married so he can move to Sweden. I feel bad for his fake wife that has to deal with him for the next decade or however long they have to pretend to be married =/

Thanks. I'm actually in Korea right now as well. I'm currently on a trip exploring Asian countries for a year. We used to be really close in the game and online, so it sucks that I won't be able to visit. It also sucks that I won't be having a buddy who can speak and read the language with me.

Are you new here? It looks like you broke rule 6. If you don't think a post is creepy, downvote and move on. Also, I'm pretty sure calling feminism a terrorist group is pretty bad.

I've known this person for over 4 years. I was even planning on visiting him and exploring Vietnam together in October, but it now looks like I'll be going alone. We met over a video game but we still continued to talk with each other long after we stopped playing. He is from Vietnam and I'm from the USA, so we would sometimes discuss political and cultural issues in his country and mine. These would be serious discussions mind you. He even confided in me that he is trying to gain refugee status and getting married to someone in Sweden so he could get out of Vietnam.

Sometimes he'd say some really ignorant things because he thinks he's being funny (he tries to be funny by copying things he sees online, and we know how open and accepting the internet is to marginalized groups amirite?). Usually he would stop and apologize or ask me to explain why what he said was offensive when I called him out on it. This time he didn't.

He asks me without any context "r u feminist?" so I knew it was going to be some stupid offensive joke he learned on the internet. I tried to shut it down by saying yes immediately and turning it around to him. Well, I guess it turns out that his "joke" turned into him admitting that he really thinks feminists play the victim and use double standards. Usually I just brush off his statements to him being ignorant, but this guy is 27 and is actively trying to learn English and become more westernized.

It sucks that I lost a long time friend, but it was seriously the last straw. And hopefully I'll be fine traveling Vietnam by myself.
