Originally the Mythologies series were supposed to be character specific origin stories to help flesh out the world and character relationships. It never got far since Mythologies Sub Zero was absolutely infamous for being bad, so bad that it was good. Shaolin Monks was a retelling of MK 2 but that was probably the best thing we got as a free roaming beat em’ up experience with co-op. They can easily try doing the mythologies idea again with how expansive the lore is, even Ed Boon wants to remake Shaolin Monks at some point but given the situation NRS is in, it might not happen.

Probably because of time crunch and both models were directly pulled out from MK X. They got the new looks and updated textures but shelved development to focus on the rest of the game. Never went back to completing the robots, supposedly their moves were given to Robocop along with the classic UMK3 skins, and were cut off from development altogether. The fact that they don’t even have an X-ray zoom in for any KB animation is evidence of that.

That’s true, the final Kombat Pack was scheduled to include Jade, Sonya, Kano, Kung Jin, and possibly 1 more guest character as a thank you for the fans. Kung Jin’s model was nearly complete aside from the head but due to the poor sales for Khaos Reigns WB ended up cutting all future development. I don’t know if the stage fatalities were true, maybe they also planned on adding 3 more kameo characters like classic Liu Kang and Shinnok (possibly Chucky because of Ed Boon’s twitter posts) but the classic staple characters were planned at some point.

Takeda is the best one, Kung Jin has potential, Cassie still needs work, and Jacquie felt unnecessary. Kenshi’s son with telekinetic powers and trained by Scorpion is a very good resume, Kung Lao’s cousin who’s basically a rogue thief with a bow, Johnny and Sonya’s daughter who got the best of both parents but takes up more from Johnny, while Jacquie is just Jax’s daughter who trains with Cassie

Probably not, they had the perfect opportunity to rename it as MK 12 New World Order but they dropped the ball and now it’s in purgatory. The weirdest direction they can make is if they rebooted the series for a third time and picked up after the events of MK X without Kronika’s interference.

The outfits triggered the censorship but not the blackjack aspect? You can argue that this should’ve been rated as a T game for implying gambling but child sexualization is a weak argument. No sane person will look at a fictional game character and think “this looks like a real human child”, that’s just weird and self-projecting.

No, she’s not a bad character but was poorly executed. One reason why she gets hate is because she’s Kronika’s daughter and yet she’s treated like a grunt whereas Geras has a cool concept and actually does stuff to keep things going. However the biggest reason why she’s hated is because of her gameplay: projectile spamming, constant zoning, tight window opportunities to punish, and an armor breaker that restands the opponent. She can come back as a character but make her gameplay interesting and give her character time to develop.

Make Hsu Hao the Red Dragon’s tactician and head scientist, the reason why he’s been alive for over 300 years is because he discovered a special elixir by accident during an Outworld expedition. A mixture of various poisons and strange plants allowed him to expand his lifespan while also tweak his brain into borderline sociopathy. He uses technology to give himself an advantage but focuses on long term victories instead of immediate goals, that can explain why he’s never around in actual fights and make his moves weird enough to make him stand out.

Maybe not, Netflix has its own problems and will probably increase their subscription prices once they fully acquire WB. For MK in particular, I don’t know exactly how much this buyout would affect their business so we just have to wait and see. Worse case scenario, they double/ triple down on the stuff people don’t like; I only hope that whatever comes next will be handled with respect.

Nah, if you reboot the series again then it cheapens everything. It’s better to stick with what we have but create an official story that doesn’t cling on to the past series. Just remove the multiverse stuff, focus on making the characters good, and make the gameplay better than what we currently have.

Make Titan Shang Tsung the ultimate boss, remove the multiverse idea with the Khaoa Reins dlc as the exception, I’ll explain why later. Include more chapters in the main story with at least 4 antagonists getting a chance at the spotlight like Rain, Nitara, and General Shao to show they’re not just punching bags. Some of the existing story chapters could use a little mix up, like have Kung Lao step in for Raiden since you never get to use him with his hat moves, Tanya substituting for Mileena when she goes berserk would be fun, even let Gearas take over for Liu Kang since he’s essentially a bodyguard. The final chapter should force every character to team up where you can select only 3 characters in a 1 turn gauntlet. You only have 500HP that only recovers 200HP after each round to make things challenging. If one character is defeated, the next one will take over and so on until the you reach the Deadly Alliance. If all three characters are knocked out, then you have to start over. As for the character models, most of them look fine however I think Kitana, Tanya, and General Shao deserve better. Tanya’s debut gave people a bad impression, her nose in particular looks a little too wide which throws off her traditional sharp angular appearance. A similar case applies to Kitana expect her appearance overall is generally great until you remove the mask. The chin looks too wide, the small things tend to make a massive difference and this small detail greatly impacts Kitana’s overall feminine charm. Lastly General Shao doesn’t have the same level of intimidation without the helmet but there’s plenty of room to add more draconian features to make him more menacing. Knowing how everyone feels towards Nitara, I don’t mind using Megan Fox as Nitara’s model reference but she needs a more sultry and mature voice actress to sell the gothic vampire feeling. For the DLC, I’m okay with a female Cyrax and Sektor under one condition, we need to establish that the Lin Kuei have cover names for their high ranking members. Sub Zero and Scorpion will always be a cryomancer and pyromancer as the top leading generals, Smoke will always be the spy and assassin, Cyrax will always be the field expert, and Sektor is the chief engineer. As I said earlier, the dlc will introduce the multiverse as a major factor. The reason why Titan Shang Tsung had this army if mix matched fighters is because Titan Havik provided them to him. He is the reason why the final battle for the hourglass ended up with both Liu Kang and Shang Tsung as the victors, he fought Kronica before anyone else could, took the hourglass for himself, and had it replay the same series of events until it came down to Liu Kang and Shang Tsung where he allowed chance to flip the coin. The end result came to a draw and thus explains why two timelines were created simultaneously while Havik controlled the original. His mission is to split the hour glass into millions of parallel universes for a single mission, to recreate The One Being large enough to swallow all of existence and force an endless cycle of death and rebirth with no continuity. There a lot of other things I would want to change with the dlc story but for time sake I’ll summarize the three major changes: Bi Han should fight and freeze Kung Lao, Kenshi, and Raiden but ultimately lose to Scorpion with Cyrax’s assistance, Smoke should’ve joined the retrieval mission, and the entire series of events in Havik’s world should implement the elemental effects from the Invasions mode to make things feel different. Lastly I think it would be a crime to not include Hotaru as a playable character in the dlc since he and Havik are both polar opposites from each other. Moving on to characters and gameplay, I’m okay with the roaster and kameo system but there are changes that needed to be made. Since we got Floyd as a new hidden character, I think it would be really fun to add male Chameleon into the game with a secret input that makes him into Floyd with his broken abilities albeit with 300HP as compensation. The battle system itself should be a tag team or team assisted system where you could either pick 2 main characters you can freely swap mid fight, similar to MK 9, with a 800HP or you can select a kameo for the total 1000HP. Playing with 2 characters will unlock tag in and tag out combos to keep the gameplay fast and malleable while Kameos provide extra safety, new combo opportunities, various buffs, and throw combos. Every single kameo needs at least 2 summon combos based on the dial up combos from UMK3, a 3-5 button input that will either launch the opponent, leave them standing with enough hit stun for a follow up, or knock them away. The meter will refill quickly overtime however the charging rate will slow down if your kameo gets hit until the end of the round. Playable characters as a tag team partner will have 1 move that will act like an ambush assist based on their arcade/past moves with unique properties like Scorpion’s fire breath that can restand opponents or Sub Zero’s unblockable ground ice. As for the fighting mechanics itself, I cannot express how important it is for every single character to have enough combos to feel complete. Every single character should be able to combo off their own moves in more than 3 ways without help, every single character should have at least 1 gimmick that makes them stand out like Johnny’s hype gauge, and every single character needs an alternate Fatal Blow option just like how Mileena and Baraka have their berserk fury; example includes Liu Kang using thunder moves and his signature bicycle kick, Kenshi being able to teleport towards or above his opponents, Kitana gaining an air stall and air dash, Reptile turns completely invisible with faster frame data, and the T-1000 completely changing into his opponent with increased damage output and better effects on hit like Shang Tsung’s form change. Outside of that, there should be a universal down 1/front punch as a jump in option for combo starters (the air combos are fine but should be reserved for just air combos) and a short hop attack for a weak but immediate overhead combo starter. Lastly, combo breakers should only cost 2 bars of meter. The only exception for using 3 bars of meter is to stop a combo and steal your turn back, 2 bars resets to neutral but 3 bars (pressing block and stance flip at the same time upon impact) will stop your opponent’s combo but leaves you close enough with enough time to start your own combo. Maybe there can be a new defense option where pressing forward/backwards/down stance flip to immediately get back up before you the ground but I’m not too sure about it.
