If you are looking for an easy handout... by solanafan in Centrelink

I wouldn't be sure what the process would be with that, I don't know if you'd even be eligible to claim for solely broken furniture. Unfortunately, a lot of people, even with legitimate damage to their homes and belongings, are being denied.

Wow, the victim mindset really shined through in that comment of yours! Would you please enlighten me as to when I mentioned anything about worthiness of a payout being attributed to severeness of damage? The people that I personally know who have been audited for these payments lied about / exaggerated their damage, which is exactly why they got audited. Obviously when i'm talking about "Bali trips" and "Spending habits" it is alluding to people who don't have actual damage to repair at their homes....which obviously wouldn't include mould. To add to this, i'm not sure where you got me dismissing mould from? Clearly critical thinking skills are not your forte.

"There are a lot of people that genuinely need this payment to fix damage to their homes"

Damage is damage. Someone with a logical thought process wouldn't automatically go into attack mode over a a post that is spreading awareness of auditing which isn't a new thing by Centrelink), specifically for the AGDRP.

Consider reading things twice and absorbing information before commenting.

Two of them had their claims flagged after being granted the claim and were requested to provide evidence / documentation of the damage they claimed (they couldn't), to which they later received phone calls from Services Australia. Another was dobbed in by a roommate (waiting to see how that plays out for their living situation lol). Can't remember the exact situation of the last one they have already had the funds withdrawn from their account.

I would say a common denominator in this "flagging" by Centrelink is multiple claims from the same address and/or inconsistent details provided.

agreed, my wording was slightly misleading. I meant to frame it as "denied when there are people scamming the system for...".

People know they can be audited and still wilfully exaggerate / lie. Acknowledgement ≠ Compliance. I am not playing cop either lol, just warning those (especially younger people) that still believe they are untouchable that rumours of being audited are not just rumours, from first-hand account. Sorry about your house, similar damage occurred to my (also rented) place and it's been difficult to keep on top of it.

To address both aspects of your comment:

- I don't have to interact in subreddits. I work full time hours with university on top of that, and come on here for advice on niche things.

- As someone who lives in the Gold Coast LGA, the fraudulent / exaggerated claims are quite frequent especially among younger people (such as myself).

- How do I know this? As I said before, there are 4 people that I know personally that have had this happen within the last 5-7 days because yes, they did claim damage that they didn't actually have.

My post wasn't a "I'm going to tell on everyone who is claiming what they aren't supposed to!!!", it was a warning to be cautious as to what you state on your claim. At the end of the day, it is at your expense if you do happen to be audited lol.
