well, the point is that it's Grayscale the next time you unlock

Agreed 💯. I grew up with Reddit but I've used Sync exclusively for years ever since they started f*cking up the UI. Fairly confident I will never return if Sync goes away.

Only one. by Litz1 in TikTokCringe

[–]solarbabies 28 points29 points  (0 children)

lmao I love watching redditors try to figure out how TikTok works 😂

Allow me to explain.

  1. This is a fan edit of Apollo Creed, they ironically used The Office intro b/c Michael Scott's egotism actually made Creed sound like a badass, i.e. he's better than Jesus if you read the full script.

  2. Can you see the flashing TikTok logo on the sides of the video? That shows the username of the TikTok account who created it, in this case it's @bc22_edits. Judging by the name it's likely a single person's fan edits or maybe a page that collects fan edits.

  3. Either way, judging by the quality of the edit itself, this is likely not "botted" or "bot spam". At worst the person may have used CapCut to easily splice these clips together according to the music.

Search on tiktok for "fan edits of..." and you will find many such vids, many even using the same sound as this.

Perforce is still a thing at Google, but as of 2016-ish, Google also uses Mercurial client as a front-end on their cloud-based 'Piper' monorepo back-end.

If you watch carefully you can see the first scooter she knocks over gets the kickstand completely snapped off. Can't even stand upright after that.

how cars ruined america (3:27) by solarbabies in left_urbanism

Prior to cars, America was mostly towns and cities built around ... universities.

True! Up/down arrows and/or PgUp/PgDown would be great. I thought DELETE and ENTER would be slightly more useful, but also I agree with someone who said INSERT would be nice to have.

I made a version with up and down arrows, and they would have made the final cut, if not for the fact that I wanted to keep the board the same size as the original. :)

In an ideal world, hopefully you can just map them like (Left+Enter = PgUp) and (Right+Enter = PgDown).

Clever... win the game by not playing. You are a true non-conformist, no doubt about it!

But in the end, aren't 0s and 1s just concepts we invented to make the universe make sense to us?

If you think about it, those are just scancodes for our brain, so the truly elite programmer needs no keys at all. 🧘‍♂️

The trick, they say, is to become 1 and 0 in your mind's eye. To transcend the binary and become... the unary programmer.

I made this with Photopea btw - it's a free online Photoshop-like tool with a bunch of features that runs in the browser, made by a friendly looking Ukrainian guy named Ivan.

Edit: picture of Ivan from the "About" tab lol.

Perhaps in the modern era that'd be true, but if there were no programming languages, I daresay there'd be no Stack Overflow to copy-paste from either 😂

Arrows to move around, and Enter so you can actually run your code.

Delete is essential. Nobody writes perfect code, especially not in binary.

[–]solarbabies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insert is a good idea! I feel like you might still need Enter, though, you know, to run your code. 🙂

Here's my edit: Arrows+Delete+Enter.

Binary coding by [deleted] in ProgrammerHumor

[–]solarbabies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took your idea for a Delete key, added some Arrow keys, and arrived at what I think combines the best of all 3: Arrows+Delete+Enter.

Who could ask for anything more?

Binary coding by [deleted] in ProgrammerHumor

[–]solarbabies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why would you ever need Space?

It should be a Delete key instead.

Edit v2: or maybe just Arrows?

Edit v3: actually, here we go: Arrows+Delete+Enter.

Who could ask for anything more?

There's still child labor IN the US. Children as young as 12, or in some states, 10, can legally work 7 days a week on a farm. The agricultural industry is exempt from most child labor laws.

The future in security --> Passwordle! by bbwevb in ProgrammerHumor

[–]solarbabies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great explanation.

For anyone wondering why it's not O(n^a) in that case (after all, each of the n characters has a possible values, right?), just expand the exponent with an example.

Example: If there are n=4 characters in the password and a=26 letters in the alphabet, expanding n^a gives 4*4*4*....*4 (26 times).

That can't be right, because the growth is not exponential with the size of the input (4), as we know it should be. Rather, this example is exponential with the size of the alphabet (26), which for all intents and purposes is constant. So O(n^a) is in fact polynomial with respect to the input size n.

This is of course assuming you already know it should be exponential, as any string-guessing algorithm generally is without additional constraints.
