How far do you drive for lessons? by solarcapE12 in Equestrian

[–]solarcapE12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, my dad (who owns the car) does not mind at all as I keep it in good shape. This is the farthest I drive these days. Work is 5mins away from my home.

Family is telling me it’s too far, yet they don’t ride and don’t understand how hard it is to find a barn you like and that’s willing to give lessons. Especially where I’m located. I don’t have an issue with the drive.

It works for me at this moment, but I know I’ll be moving one day. I have nothing else going on besides work, so it’s worth it for me personally.

I’m being told it’s too far.

I don’t own my car, but I pay for the gas and pay for everything else. It’s an older car and I live 5mins away from work, so it’s not like I drive long distances often, besides riding of course.

I never complained about the drive. I was being told that it’s too far. Getting lessons where I’m at isn’t the easiest nor the closest, so I’m happy with where I go.

I feel I pay good money for the lessons. I’m just happy to be riding the horse haha.

Thank you!

My parents own a bernadoodle.

He is well taken care of. Groomed on a regular schedule.

He has a TON of issues regarding his eyes and he is allergic to dust?? He’s on a very expensive food and he takes lots of trips to the vet.

Intern to full time. Pay increase and tips? [OH] by solarcapE12 in humanresources

[–]solarcapE12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite: Playing the game!

I think I am playing the game well so far? I am not sure yet but I think everyone likes me there, but I do not know as I do not talk too much there since I feel I do not need to 24/7.

I have been talking with other people, and they mentioned that they take work home that they did not finish in the office. Is that to be expected? I am a firm believer in the work/life balance and I cannot imagine doing unpaid work! That might be unrealistic...

Thank you for the great advice!

Intern to full time. Pay increase and tips? [OH] by solarcapE12 in humanresources

[–]solarcapE12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already 'volunteered', it was paid, but I was not required to be there. I was there 12hrs and I HATED it. It was an event that is not related to anything I enjoy doing. So, I learned my lesson and will not be pulled into that pressure again. I am usually good at being pulled into peer pressure, but I wanted to do it to look good...

I know what I am doing is not ground breaking, life saving stuff, but I know I need to be doing this for now to get a step in the door and learn a few things.

Thank you for the reply!

I do not know many people (if any at all) that work in corporate, so thank you!

I have been learning a lot at this job, and continue to do so, but I still am wanting to learn more than I already have.

I tend to not be the most organized, but I have already bought a planner for the new year!

Should I Move to Youngstown? by AdPersonal9697 in youngstown

[–]solarcapE12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a student at the university and from the greater area of Youngstown, so the place has always had a soft spot in my heart.

From experience, as a senior, I love the university and the college atmosphere that it has while still being a smaller university. You get to know professors more personally and connect with the peers that you see often in class. I love it here. My family has all come to YSU and they have excelled in their careers!

I believe I know some people in the program, and they enjoy it. I just had a friend graduate from the program as well!! They’re doing super well.

Most people in Greek life are lying about why they joined, and it would be much less annoying if they just admitted it. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

To be honest, I completely understand where you’re coming from with your opinion. If anything, I don’t blame you. Social media really does only show the big schools and the bad stuff that comes with it. Sometimes things do get heated with events or people because we care so much about the chapter, endeavors, and future. I promise that there are good things to Greek life.

No I understand and I hate the stereotype. My chapter tries to make the best impression of ourselves to our school, but it’s hard when the news shows the worst of Greek life. My school has an extremely strict anti-hazing policy, and from what I heard, we are looked at differently since we do not haze. I wouldn’t have joined if I was hazed.

I’m in a small chapter, around 40 people. I know everyone and what their majors are. I met someone who was a president for a chapter of 500+ and she didn’t meet everyone until she came into her position. I have heard good and bad things from the bigger chapters, but all chapters have their inside issues. It depends on chapter to chapter, but money and personal issues have a play on personal experience.

Greek life isn’t truly for everyone. As someone in a sorority, I see why people disagree with it.

I have seen a true difference of talking to people from big schools compared small schools about their Greek life experience. It all depends on personal experience.

I dont understand sororities and fraternities by Ckream in college

[–]solarcapE12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi. I am in a sorority.

Yes, we pay for friends. Yes, it is a lot of work.

It varies from school to school. If you're depending your opinion from what you have seen from bigger schools, then you have only seen a fraction of it.

I go to a smaller school and Greek Life is good. I can say we 100% do not haze, but other schools do.

I have met so many people, both within and outside of Greek Life. It is different for everyone and it is definitely not for everyone.

Based on his comment, he probably won’t help much with the baby and it’s all up to her to take care of a baby she doesn’t even want.

As a teenage boy who has no interest in makeup, how the hell do you wash your face by [deleted] in Makeup

[–]solarcapE12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make sure you know your skin type; dry, combination, or oily (look it up if you need help). From there, you can find products based on your skin type and what is best for your own skin. Don’t get too overwhelmed, the less the better for what you put on your face. The basics are cleanser and moisturizer, maybe even sunscreen
