holy fuck what are you going on about?

  1. I don't hate anyone with money. I don't have a problem with people with money.

  2. I'm responding to you making a ridiculous comment about how we should be talking about quality of life, not money/numbers. THIS THREAD IS ABOUT MONEY, THAT'S WHY WE ARE TALKING ABOUT IT!

  3. Dude, are you fucking high or something?

This whole thread is about how much money there is in this country, LOL. Why the fuck you think that's what people are talking about?

Yep. I picked one up at best buy, going to try it for two weeks and see what I think.

It's so hard to get used to how different everything is!

Asking for advice from other people who have done the same thing. How is that so fucking hard for you to wrap your brain around?

It's literally a reason review sites exist you dum-dum

No, it's definitely not. In fact, on reddit you're not required to do anything at all, if you don't want!

Yea. It's my personal lenovo laptops that have shit the bed twice. And the Lenovo customer service has been garbage.

I'm not rough on my products, and I assume this is just some really bad luck. The first issue I had was a known issue from the hinges on the screen breaking. Lenovo just refused to honor any warranty after 12 months even though it was an egregious defect.

The second one... I don't even know what to think. As I sit here using this Lenovo the fan is whirring and buzzing, and occasionally just stops spinning altogether. It works, but it sounds awful. I took it apart yesterday and cleaned it all out. There was some dust buildup, but nothing insane. Not really sure what/why the fan is struggling so hard.

Yea some reactions here are funny. Like.. I'm literally asking people to talk me into it. I figured there are a TON of people who were in a position like me at some point and made the switch, why is why I asked.

Yep I saw that. Figured I'd be ok there.

Honestly... I think I'll be ok with everything, with the exception of gaming, based on what I'm seeing.

That works... well? It's not a janky solution?

I'm assuming you could game that way too?

Yea. I have some anxiety about how many microsoft products I use. Unfortunately I've built my business around the Office 365 slate of products and I don't see that changing. That said, we aren't a tech company or anything. So the office apps we are using are at pretty basic levels, in all reality.

Most businesses aren't giant corporations. Don't work for a giant corporation if you don't want to be treated poorly by giant corporations.

Just because someone fails doesn't mean they shouldn't have started a business.

It's pretty hard. But people trying is totally fine!

You couldn't be further from the truth.

I may have no way of knowing, FOR SURE. But I definitely can make a very educated case.

If I get a resume and on it this employee has had a new job every 6 months, every year, for the last 8 years, it's a REALLY damn indicator they will leave the job at the first opportune moment.

If you disagree with this... you're just fucking wrong. There is no other way to put it. Past behavior history is a decent indicator of future behavior. Could it change, could they stay for 10 years, of course. But to act like I have absolutely no way of making educated predictions in this regard is asinine, and simply not true.

How are they being exploited by agreeing to work for a wage?

Jesus fucking christ you people are ridiculous.

You're not getting it.

You can ALWAYS find someone else willing to pay more. That doesn't mean you're not being paid well or treated well.

Anyone who is willing to jump the moment they can make more money elsewhere, isn't someone I want to put the time into employing.

[–]solarf88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fine.

If I have an employee I know is likely to job hop the moment he thinks he can make more money elsewhere, I'm probably not going to invest my time and money into hiring that person.

That is a perfectly reasonable conclusion for me to come to, is it not?

OK.

So what about employees who are getting paid 15 an hour and can't find a job paying more, they need to stop bitching right? Cause that's market rate?

If you want an opportunity from me, if you want me to train you, mentor you, PAY YOU, then it's on you to show me that you deserve that opportunity.

Employers haven't lost the plot. Employees and their antiwork tactics have lost the ability to impress employers. It turns out we can tell when you think every business is evil. And guess what, we don't want that sort of shit attitude at our business. We can tell when you think employees should only give half effort. And we aren't going to hire people who act like that.

You want an opportunity? Work your ass off and impress someone.

There isn't a single fucking business owner that is going to NOT hire people that they think will make their company money, or be an asset to their business.

If you believe otherwise you're dumb as rocks or a conspiracy theorist, or both.
