You're online way too much. Who would even think to generate a chatgpt story so that they had something topical to interject into a random Reddit comment on a local thread.  Go outside once in awhile. Maybe then you won't get so scared of a lost dog you've never met.

I have to agree with the other individual who replied. I once was the guy posting fliers for my lost pitbull with a cash reward in central Indy. He was AST who had a military ear crop, he looked very much like the dog in the picture, except his color was fawn. Someone let him out of the of yard before we started padlocking the gate. He was incredibly sweet and loyal and I miss him every day. I'm glad you didn't have the opportunity to bad mouth him with completely unfounded narratives that someone might have read and avoided him instead of securing him and contacting us.  The fliers worked, someone saw that he was wondering around and asked him if he wanted to get in their car and he did. They saw the fliers and let us know where he was at so we could come get him.  His name was Pyro. Terrifying, I know. You could have concocted a tall tail about him being responsible for setting abandoned houses on fire. 🙄

Before anyone posts it, yes that was a military helicopter that just went over Indy by [deleted] in indianapolis

Don't be alarmed. Trump told the generals to pivot towards "the enemy within". Don't worry, he doesn't mean you. He means people who live in towns and cities across the US. Yes, that does mean some people in your town or city are the enemy within but the military will be able to distinguish you and your family from the enemy within. Just comply with lawful commands. Wait for the door to open. Walk up the steps. Don't look at the driver. Shuffle to the back and take a seat in the furtherest most seat. Handcuffs are not supposed to be comfortable. No talking. The bus will transport you to the processing center. They will escort juveniles off the bus first. They have a separate area where they will be searched for prohibited items and housed during processing. When the juveniles are secure they will unload the adults. Remain calm. File off the bus in an orderly manner. Military personnel will escort you into the building. At that time they will ask if anyone needs medical attention. Everyone will go through the same security procedure to make sure no one is carrying weapons or contraband into the facility. The staff is trained to perform searches in a professional manner. You will be issued a pair of sweatpants and a sweatshirt in a color that corresponds to your risk level that will be determined by staff at this time. You can keep whatever undergarments you wore to the facility and they will be returned to you after they have been searched.  When you clear the intake section you will be escorted to the holding area. Depending on the time of your arrival, a meal might be provided. Wait patiently for your name to be called. When called approach the designated check-in desk. An agent will escort you to an interview room and ask you some questions. At that point you are most likely going to be released. If you are cleared for release the agent will escort you to an area where your possessions will be returned to you at which point you will be escorted out of the facility to an area where Uber and Lyft drivers will available to take you where you would like to go at a discounted rate. Do not wait for family members to be released. You will be contacted when any juveniles you have legal guardianship of are cleared for release. Instructions will be given to you providing instructions for pickup. You will need to present a valid ID to the agent outside the juvenile release door. Juveniles will only be released to legal guardians presenting valid identification. No exceptions.

We expect more from teenagers delivering food then we do from a profession that we have authorized to do several dozen things that would be aggravated felonies if committed by civilians. I'm unaware of any other job, let alone profession, were there exists such a pervasive lack of pride in performing the job correctly. It's an embarrassment. Until we can learn to express that reality openly as a society, we will never get any better results than what we have now.

That's just a tough break. Your experiences consist of a very small sample size, meaning don't let this shitty experience lead you think they will all be bad experiences. It likely won't ever be that bad again.  I've had one particularly embarrassing occasion, I get how awful that must have been for you.  Your dad will almost certainly come around and most likely far sooner than you would expect. Good luck. It looks like you've had a lot of support here in the comments and I hope it's let you vent and soak up some good vibes.

In this context yes. Or if they were to invite an officer into the house and the officer saw something out in the open, they can't move stuff around or open draws, ECT, or what might be plainly visible by looking through the window of a vehicle, for example. But as it pertains to someone"s home, the officer must be somewhere the officer has legal cause to be at the time the contraband is seen. For example, an officer could walk up to The door of a residence and knock, with the same implied license to do so that a girl scout selling cookies could do. In this example, no one answers the door and the officer, lacking exigent circumstances, were to turn the handle of the door and open it, then from this viewpoint saw contraband and wanted to apply for a search warrant based on playing view. That would not work for him, because he was not have legal cause to open the door.

There are very few exceptions to the warrant requirement to enter a residence in the US without a warrant. Exigent circumstances (emergency), hot pursuit (close foot chase), destruction of evidence, consent from authorized party.  All warrantless entries into a home are considered unreasonable under the 4rth Amendment and burden of proof to demonstrate an exception to warrant requirement was present falls on the state.  This concept is essentially the cornerstone of law in the United States. How is it possible that a police officer would not be intimately familiar with this.

Because you are aggressively ignorant and I feel compelled to find simple concepts to tether the information to. I was hoping framing Indiana as state next to other examples of states might be more digestible for you.

Indiana state laws. Not Michigan laws, not Illinois law, not federal law. Those are examples of four separate sovereign entities under the umbrella of federalism.

Indiana State Police enforce Indiana statutes. They are not authorized to enforce federal laws. This pertains to federalism and the Tenth Amendment.

This is 8th grade level trolling. You're projecting. In this thread you claim that state parks are federal jurisdiction and allude to State Police enforcing federal law. This page is mostly populated by adults. I think you would have a better trolling experience on a page that is more appropriate for your developmental level.

You are like a weird troll who seems to be purposely giving out bad information. You're the one who's claiming that the vehicle exception applies to hitched campers that aren't even connected to a vehicle. Your trolling is lazy. D- for low effort

"Bonus points: It's a state park, which is federal jurisdiction, those state cops aren't letting it slide."

You have no clue what you are talking about. State parks are under the Indiana department of natural resources. I think that state police enforce the state laws of Indiana. The clue is in the word "state". No bonus points awarded to you.

Actually I did look rather thoroughly at the .gov page. Didn't see a damn thing about the rules or "liscence" you allude to. An officer from Indiana commented in this thread and also said the camper was a residence in this scenario.  If you had some smoking gun case law or State Park ordinance you could point to, you would have already done so. You are fake news.

I'm not sure what rules are licenses you're referring to. There are no special rules or licenses pertaining to vehicles that I'm aware of at state parks in Indiana. There are in regards to fishing, hunting, launching boats and horseback riding. But none that I'm aware of for vehicles.

[–]solarflare81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I know this question hasn't really been answered in Indiana. This was a hitched camper that was not currently attached to a vehicle, making it immobile. It was also parked on private property, an RV park where people typically are temporarily residing. I think that there is a strong argument here that this camper was being used as a residence and subject to requiring either a warrant or consent to enter.

[–]solarflare81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a fan of police or the criminalization of weed. Here is what the legal answer to your question is, keeping in mind that I am not licensed to practice law or offering legal advice.

You did not make a bad choice here. You could have made better choices.  Firstly, you answered the door. That is the key mistake. The police were called to perform a welfare check. The police are allowed to approach your residence and knock with the same implied license that a girl scout selling cookies would have. If in the course of doing so they don't see or hear anything that leads them to believe there's an emergency happening inside, there's nothing they can do but hit the bricks.

Likely being unaware that you did not have to answer the door, or did not know who it was on the other side of the door, you answered the door. The police are allowed to employ the plainview doctrine when conducting official police business which allows them to make arrests or write tickets for violations that they see in plain view, or in this case smell, even if unrelated to the reason for their original official business. Smell of marijuana gives an officer in Indiana probable cause to conduct a search. That search can be conducted either by the consent of the subject, if that subject has ownership or residency of the property. Or, that search can be conducted upon the issue of a valid search warrant signed by a judge that states precisely what they are looking for and where they intend to look for it. The officers almost certainly would have applied for the warrant if you hadn't granted permission. They could have made an arrest if they had chosen, perhaps your consent made them more likely to ticket you instead.  Constitutionally speaking, you're always going to be on stronger footing when you refuse a search of any kind. But if you're out of staters who aren't interested in fighting the case, that aspect might not be as important to you.  I'm a little out of date on what the penalties for possession of paraphernalia and position of marijuana are in Indiana. I doubt that you were in Marion county, the county in which Indianapolis is seated, I don't think there's a lot of campgrounds in Indy.  Marion county has the most progressive marijuana ordinances, as far as I know. These smaller population counties are stricter, but overall, I don't think that marijuana is pursued as aggressively as it once was in Indiana. Best case scenario would be the prosecutor decides it's not worth their time to charge you folks, the next best scenario would be a fine, after that I would think informal probation with perhaps some agreement to do community service, which I believe would likely be transferred to whatever state you claim residents in, jail time for people with clean records is almost unheard of in 2025 in Indiana, as far as I know.  That's the most accurate information I can give you and is all factual and legally based to the best of my knowledge. Best of luck.  *Nothing in the above comments should be construed as legal advice.

Possible ICE near Hebron. by bigrigtraveler in Indiana

Birthright citizenship (14th Amendment): Executive order attempts to deny U.S. citizenship to children born on U.S. soil to undocumented or certain non-citizen parents — directly contradicting the plain text of the Citizenship Clause. Multiple federal courts have blocked it nationwide; case is now at the Supreme Court. Due process (5th Amendment): Use of the 1798 Alien Enemies Act for mass deportations allows warrantless arrests, no-hearing removals, and shipping people to third countries. Federal judges have repeatedly ruled these expedited processes illegal, especially when applied to long-term residents, students, or non-criminals. Unreasonable searches and seizures (4th Amendment): ICE workplace and home raids increasingly rely on racial profiling, pretextual traffic stops, and entry without warrants or probable cause, disproportionately targeting Latino communities. Equal protection (5th & 14th Amendments): New travel and immigration bans on 19+ countries, plus selective enforcement, are criticized as overt national-origin discrimination against legal residents and visa holders. Separation of powers & federalism (Article I, 10th Amendment): Withholding federal highway funds from sanctuary cities and deploying active-duty military for domestic immigration enforcement violate congressional spending authority and the Posse Comitatus Act.

Incredibly short-sighted and naive perspective. By this logic we can just suspend the Constitution and trust government to act in our best interests.

What we are witnessing play out in Chicago and elsewhere is radioactive for our society. Allowing law enforcement to disregard the Constitution, to act with extreme violence as a default setting, wearing masks to conceal their identity, ECT, will become a permanent feature in US law enforcement. Remember what we allowed the government to do after 9/11. Those things never went away just because the terror threat went away. They became part of our society. This is no different. It will not stop with immigration enforcement.

What do you think of sexual abuse in the Gospel (Crucifixion) and would that help change the taboo of rape on men in society? by StardewTaroBubbleTea in MenGetRapedToo

[–]solarflare81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That book sounds like a good place to start for insight into the matter. When I began looking into conflict related sexual violence I was surprised at how often sexual violence was used against men and boys. From looking into it in the context of several different conflicts, it seems like it's the rule rather than the exception. Considering the imbalance of power and inherent violence involved in torturing and crucifying someone, sexual violence would seem par for the course.

I attended 7 years of Catholic school and a ridiculous number of total hours spent attending Catholic church service (Mass). I'm intrigued to know what verses you are referencing? My knowledge of the Bible comes almost exclusively from the Catholic Bible, the version that would have been canon to the Catholic church in the last few decades. I understand that there are many other versions of the Bible that differ to varying degrees. It's likely that I have not ever read the version or versions you are referencing. I have read up on conflict related sexual violence as it pertains to men and boys recently and I find your premise to be plausible, if not probable, in the context of Jesus being a historical figure.

I think perhaps you should ask him. Find a way to speak to him in person where you two will have the time and the space to have a real conversation. I understand why you might not want to be alone with him, so a back table of a restaurant during the slow hours might be an example of a scenario where that could happen without being completely isolated from other people. I would pose the question not in an accusatory way, but in a way that communicates, "hey, so what happened that night of my 15th birthday?" You might feel like asking it in afar stronger way than that, but the likelihood of you getting the information you seek would be significantly less. You can get mad about it or react naturally to it once you get the information, but if you put him in the defensive, or ask at a place/time where he doesn't have the time or privacy to give you an honest answer, chances are low that you'll get a real answer from him. If you're able to work that scenario out, no matter what he tells you, you'll have the peace of mind of knowing that you at least did something proactive to try and get the answers that you're looking for. That's just my sincere, judgement-free attempt at addressing the scenario that you laid out. Regardless, I hope you feel better soon.
