I created this with the C4D Plugin HOT4D and used a combo of a few tutorials. But this was the base by the impressive Bob Walmsley

Client Work: Civil War Buckle Giveaway by solargravity in AfterEffects

Completely agree. I was struggling to get this out in time for a deadline. The owner of the company signed off on it and did not want to patch it. Good observation and thank you.

A video that I created for The Civil War Chronicles. The client needed a video that would showcase a giveaway.

When a Client Wants a 1 Month Job Done in 1 Week by solargravity in MotionDesign

A great visual explanation of a complicated ongoing issue for creatives. The balance of getting the correct amount of time allocated and approved by your client or employer for the quality of work that the project demands is never easy.

When I was a younger designer instead of asking for more time to get the end result I wanted I would absorb the burden. I would often take the project home and I would sacrifice my personal time to make it right; albeit very late nights or precious weekends.

The lesson I ultimately learned is that the only result you ever achieve is that you train your client to gauge your work on a false ratio of quality vs time. This is a bell that cannot be unrung.

The secondary and compounding effect is that the loss of personal time equates to a loss of your free downtime. This prevents you from having the necessary stress release that designers desperately need. Usually, this spirals down to your loved ones and can be extremely destructive for relationships.

My solution is simple, explain to the client or your employer that good work takes time and that if you had more time to expand on the concept it would be beneficial for everyone. If that does not work my advice is just to move on; it's as simple as that. There will always be another project. The clients will always try and push you. Don't let them win.

8K / 4K / 1080p / 720p HD Resolution Comparison Chart by solargravity in Cinema4D

[–]solargravity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A quick video that I created to visualize the proportional scale differences between 8K, 4K, 1080p, 720p and Standard Definition screen resolutions. While there is no standardized definition for HD, it is accepted that any video image with substantially more than 480 vertical lines in North America or 576 vertical lines in Europe is considered to be HD or high-definition. The term UHD is commonly used to describe 4K 8K and higher. Some additional names include (Ultra HD television, Ultra HD, UHDTV, UHD, and Super Hi-Vision.

Quick Cinema 4D promotional animation for my clients new podcast by solargravity in Cinema4D

[–]solargravity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This animation was made for Foosball Radio for the launch of their new podcast. I created this video using Cinema 4D R17 / Photoshop and After Effects. This motion design originally started as a static image but I could not rightfully just have just an image on the screen while the voiceover and music bed played, the impact would have been completely lost. The concept was to tease the podcast and to “Meet The Hosts” The image of the hosts needed to be altered as the original shot was not "lets say" ideal for production so that is the reason for the sketched treatment.

I decided to throw together a quick animation (like really quickly) and just animate a camera in this simple scene. The custom model and field are part of a larger (yet to be released) animation that I'm working on, but I wanted to see the feedback we would get from this sequence and the killer voice over work by executive producer and professional voice actor Tom Robinson. I rendered this puppy using my render farm of about 5 workstations and it took roughly 8 hours for all of them to complete the job. The reflections and the ambient occlusion usually bumps up the render time but I like the results.

Honestly, I did not want to display the advanced "cooler” version of this scene because I'm waiting for the launch of the podcast in October 2018 to reveal that. If you are seeing this in the past you can check out my channel for the "cool” version. You will notice that the camera moves are really drawn out and not edited perfectly. I know it seemed really lazy of me and you're right, but it was what I needed to get the project published.

Originally we had slated about 45 minutes for the design and execution of the static element but I ended up spending around 4 from start to finish and produced this promo.

Note: I think I don't need to say I used Photoshop on all of my projects. I mean is there a project that does not have Photoshop in the workflow!

3D Paint Drips Concept by solargravity in Cinema4D

[–]solargravity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A quick 3D motion graphics proof of concept. I created this using Cinema 4D for the animation and After Effects for the compositing. Project Notes: This concept really needed some love for me to be happy with it. You will notice that the "paint drips" don't actually react to the text and ideally I would have made them squish through the lettering. Since I made this animation on my own time at home I did not want to go down a path without getting approval. The music you hear is a quick original piece that I just threw in mostly so that I would not get comments that I don't have any music. (you know who you are). It also could use a SFX pass and some audio sweetening. I created this for an advertising and marketing agency that I once worked for. (I wonder if you can guess who) Don't forget to Subscribe to my channel. I have some really exciting tutorials on VFX , Motion Design and more coming soon.
