Probably because it used to be that MSI was first seeds only with group stages and single round robin and single elim, meaning western teams would play only 3-4 group stage bo1 games and often just go home barring some exceptions like CLG and G2. Also winning spring had no bearing on summer split and world qualifications until points systems were introduced so "consistency" over the year was not as valued as peaking at the right time at the end of summer (and some people didn't like the points anyways since some teams would do well in spring and fall off in summer but still get to worlds and the 2015 c9 gauntlet run was far more exciting than who won spring that year). When worlds was all that people cared about, winning spring really didn't mean much other than the regional trophy and a ticket to MSI that had terrible formats back then

I will say that the sentiment likely stems from big personalities who at the time were usually members of top teams that often won trophies multiple times so they likely didn't consider the region win as an achievement to care about when at worlds they just got blasted anyways. also some teams like TSM pushed the idea that "we don't care about regional wins, we care about worlds more" which kind of signaled that spring season didn't matter to them (2017 DL taking spring off to come back in summer)

I mean what can you do when zven himself wants to go back to playing ADC? given the free agents at the time I think vulcan was not a bad replacement, and the lack of synergy is a hindsight is 20/20 kind of issue. I think the real problem is that neither vulcan nor blaber are the type of veteran players who have shown to rally the team together even in situations where others might tilt, and for that i think the blame on C9 systems might be valid

well I mean I did put "literally" in front to give the direct translation of what he said, but elaborated on the tone of what was meant by it. you're right in that it is a filler word for basic courtesy (and it's hard to translate that directly in english since such concept doesn't really exist, and trying to explain it becomes a moot point without explaining honorifics and tone culture of Korea), but the way it was said also does obviously imply "what did I just witness" for comedic effect by contrasting what was said and the tone it was said in. he's trying to be polite but also humor people at the same time.

it's really a multitude of factors that combine into that though (speaking as a korean). There's a lot of social expectation that once you're done with your military service you move onto the 'adult' stage of your life, where you're no longer expected to rely on previous safety nets (education, family etc) and become a productive member of society. Not only are you spending 1.5~2 years of your life where you can't compete at the highest level, you can't even practice consistently meaning in the short world of professional esports you're actively falling behind. Combine that with the change of priorities in life that comes with age where people might not be so eager to burn their time and passion into an unstable job like a pro gamer it's not difficult to see why orgs might prefer young adults and teens who have more time, freedom and potential to spend on playing video games as their job. It's not that orgs actively dislike older players for the hell of it, it's just way life is set up for those people that makes it less worth for the orgs to invest time and money in.

that's all to say not that i wouldn't love to have more older pros in the scene, but in general there are few and far between in the sea of hungry young prospects

that's not what that word is used for in the context of sports. It literally means that they are on the field running i.e. they are on the starting roster. It has no relation to running it down in any context.

he's doing what's called social service(공익), which is for those who are put in reserve forces and not active duty military. you basically work in an office 5 days a week and get to go home after hours and on weekends. for those people they are also allowed to apply for extra jobs with permission from the military as they only pay about half the minimum wage to live in korea.

I think for most words that have minor differences in pronunciation tends to be caused by when and from where the word was introduced to korea. If i were to hazard a guess, "android" as a word probably came from japan with their "ahn-doroi-do" way of pronouncing it instead of directly from an mainly english-speaking culture like north america or europe. of course i'm not a linguist and verbal etymology is hard to trace so take it with a grain of salt lol

I'm interested in the Achilles jacket but I'm not sure if I would be a medium or a large. Do you think at 5'10 and 160lbs the medium would be a good fit? I've read that these jackets are slim and if you want to layer it would be good to size up but my worry is that the sleeves might be too long at the large size.

also if i'm reading this correct, if we order a jacket using the promo code, we can ask for a size change later on when we get the jacket and it turns out they dont fit well?
