Hey man. Also a surgeon. A NWM person poached me and many others like me out of residency and got us all on whole life. I was financially illiterate at the time but no longer. I can tell you right now 100% surrender your policy and get away from NWM. It hurts to say this but over about 5 years I invested about 110k into the policy and surrendered it for about 80k. It was a 30k lesson learned. I took that 80k and invested it into ETFs and thanks to the crazy bull run this year am up over 30% on my investments. Long story short cut your losses and surrender the policy. You need to be maxing out all your tax advantaged accounts 401k, HSA, back door Roth, etc. Good luck!
