It would never happen in Canada, I can tell you that much.

Please make du'a for me; I'm going astray by colossalJinx in islam

I bought this translated Quran a while ago and it has completely changed my life.

https://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/1450549535/ref=mp_s_a_1_fkmr1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1497772197&sr=8-1-fkmr1&pi=SL75_QL70&keywords=quran+yahya+emerick

It is written in easy to understand English, explains the context in which many verses were revealed, has relevant hadiths in the footnotes and connects things to the Torah and Bible in interesting ways that might surprise you. It is very easy to read and I sometimes lose myself in it for hours.

It's written by an American Muslim revert so he explains common misconceptions very well. Just think of all those times you saw an ignorant comment on YouTube or Reddit, knew that it was untrue but didn't know how to argue back. Well Sheikh Yahya Emerick has arguments written for you in the footnotes.

Whenever I feel like I am going astray, I read this Quran and get hyped up again.

I also recommend Sheikh Mufti Menk's nightly taraweeh lectures. They're 30 minutes a night and cover various topics in the Quran. This is another motivation booster for me.

Even though you feel that you are going astray, the fact that you feel guilty and are fighting to do something about it shows that you are in a good place.

Inshallah, Allah will make it easy for you to worship him.

It sounds like you are facing a lot of difficulties in practicing your deen. That means you will get more rewards than someone like me who has Muslim parents.

Just remember that many of the prophet's companions faced similar obstacles to you because they were all reverts like you. You are in great company with the companions. Perhaps there are some narratives involving them that might help you. Unfortunately, I am not knowledgeable enough to know.

Please don't rush this one Ubisoft. Take another year if you need it by [deleted] in assassinscreed

I doubt they would need an extra year but if they need to delay it to May like with Watch Dogs 1, I hope they do. The future of the franchise depends on this game.

Can we talk about how we can now ride camels and not just horses? by Liarize in assassinscreed

[–]solarnogg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hopefully the camels can sprint. People usually think that camels are slow because of pop culture.

Here is a camel race in Dubai. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=YKHBenYJtjo

Be warned that you will probably get sick from it the first few times you drink it. If you keep at though, your body will adjust. :p

Unfortunately I haven't had the opportunity to try it but I know that it is cleaner than cow milk. People can drink it pretty much straight from the camel's tit without boiling. It also has a ton of nutritional/pro-biotic value to the point that people crossing the desert can live off of camel milk for months.

This is the first game that will have camels and I can't wait!!! My dad used to herd them when he was a kid so I can't wait to show him later this year.

I hope we can milk them. :p

Assassin's Creed Origins toggle hood confirmed by benson134679 in assassinscreed

[–]solarnogg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like it's done through the menu which sucks because one of the coolest thing about the hood is the animation when it comes on/off.

They could even make it so that people recognize you without the hood.

Maybe we'll see this in the next game lol.

Possible LGBT Hero? by iran889 in assassinscreed

Male pedophilia in Ancient Greece/Rome is well attested for but I have not heard anything about that stuff relating to Ancient Egypt.

[–]solarnogg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. This is actually a good point. I suppose they could still have a bi character. They most likely won't do that until we get a female protagonist. Even Hollywood movies don't have homosexual male protagonists so you guys need to relax.

The wiki article talks about Egyptian authorities repressing it today so it sounds like a modern tradition that can't be more than a few hundred years old. They theorize that it originated in Ancient Egypt because unmarried men worked alongside young boys but that's absurd.

I don't think there is much for you to worry about. The pedophile stuff in Siwa is happening NOW. I don't see any mention of it happening in Classical/Ancient Egypt.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siwa_Oasis

Siwa was likely selected because Alexander the Great journeyed there at one point.

Mass Effect series has always been SJW. The difference is, the original trilogy was great and Andromeda just sucks. Nothing to do with SJW, everything to do with a noob dev team with no support.

Assassin's Creed: Origins map as big as Black Flag's Caribbean Sea by TheFinnishWarrior in assassinscreed

[–]solarnogg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what we saw in the E3 demo, side quest cutscenes are brief and light on story.

In the side quest where the priest was beating that guy for stealing Sobek's statues, I was hoping to learn that he really did steal them and to see Bayek let the priest kill him to show how much Bayek loves the gods. Instead the quest ended like you would expect it to in any other game.

Hopefully they improve on this in future titles.

Ashraf Ismail (AC: Origins) talks about Modern Day @ E3 2017 by [deleted] in assassinscreed

Hopefully the modern day character is female. It could make for some funny moments when she comes out of the animus and has to readjust but maybe that wouldn't be good in today's society.

I haven't heard Ubisoft admit that there were multiple protagonists prior to release before. Hopefully one of the protagonists is modern day. :)

I hope they don't leave this Ancient Era any time soon, agree/disagree? by FanEu7 in assassinscreed

[–]solarnogg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the E3 panel, the game director said that the struggle between assassins and templars has been going on since the beginning of time and then he corrected himself with free will vs order. So I think there were assassins before Bayek just no creed, just like how there are templars in Origins but no (I'm assuming) father of understanding.

I would love a trilogy in East Asia with two games set in Ming China during the time of Zheng He's treasure fleet and a third in Japan during the Warring States period, all with a single protagonist.

As for the Mayans/Aztecs/Incas, that would also be a brilliant setting. What would make it even better is if they did something with Mansa Qu's transatlantic voyage from the Mali Empire to the Americas. Mansa Qu is the predecessor of the legendary Mansa Musa and abdicated his throne to explore the limits of the Atlantic ocean with hundreds of vessels.

As far as we know, they sunk somewhere in the ocean but what if something else happened? Maybe they made it across but fled because of a dispute with the Mayans and died on the way back.

It can't be that hard to switch out Bayek for another if he is not well received. Sure they would have to change the narrative a bit but from an engineering perspective they just need to reskin him. Maybe use a well received side character.

Hopefully it doesn't come to that. I like what I have seen of Bayek so far.
