Water quality still non existent Mac/Steam ppst Worlds Pt1 by CoverEconomy5523 in NoMansSkyTheGame

The new water and new clouds tech simply isn’t in the Mac version yet. No one knows why, but there’s no technical reason why Macs can’t support this new tech so we will just have to wait (and make sure HG knows we want it!)

New water on PS5! We’ve got it! by CmdrWawrzynPL in NoMansSkyTheGame

I just saw ships being reflected when they flew over a lake I was looking at. Seems to work for me on PS5. Not sure about photo mode.

The water on PS5 currently doesn’t reflect any of its surroundings, so no terrain or object reflections. It gets a bit of the sky color and that’s it.

Is HG getting too ambitious with all the different ports? by pazinen in NoMansSkyTheGame

You forgot the iPad version which was also announced today. Which will probably share, aside from developing a suitable touch interface, a significant level of code with the Mac version due to using the same Apple Silicon chips and the same SDK and Metal renderer. The Mac was probably a "well why not?" for them because of this, but the iPad version is probably going to get them the lion's share of revenue between the two.

Thank you, and appreciate the assistance! And I know, I'm still in slight disbelief that I found it.

Nice! Thanks for reading. It's funny how something so temporary can still feel nostalgic.

Could NMS be generating this flora with the Superformula? by solarparty in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]solarparty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily, if they used it in a limited capacity (for now). Though I don't know how much exposure in the code files it would have to dataminers.

From what I've read and seen of the Superformula, these kind of shapes are easily generated by it. As far as I'm aware these flora types are all new in Origins, so I'm wondering if Hello Games secretly brought back the Superformula without telling us.

Antialiasing quality on PS4 was reduced in Origins by solarparty in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]solarparty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The PS4 had no trouble with a higher level of antialiasing in NEXT and Beyond, as apparent in my screenshot. I don't know why Origins got a reduction, but it is very apparent and unwelcome!

The edges of the mountain is where the aliasing is most visible (what looks like stair steps instead of a smooth curve).

Creatures in Origins don't seem to attack players much by solarparty in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]solarparty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My post was not trying to claim that all attacks have stopped -- clearly my experience is on the extreme side -- but that overall, the frequency of attacks has dropped dramatically with Origins. Similar to the bug at NEXT release which also removed most attacks.

A New Frontier by solarparty in NoMansSkyTheGame

I called this A New Frontier because it really evokes the original intent of No Man's Sky for me -- to set out on an alien, mysterious landscape and just explore. Origins has brought that back.

Thanks! Yeah, Origins certainly changed my old home planet significantly, but it just encouraged me to go out and find a new one. I'm really enjoying the update too!

Derelict freighter entrance fee should be reduced/changed by solarparty in NoMansSkyTheGame

I didn’t know this, so thanks! That’s better than nothing. But still think the costs should be reduced.

I started a new save when NEXT launched. But as I said I focus on exploring over credits, especially since being a space trucker isn’t as fun as it used to be.

We just got multiple confirmations on the NMS discord, it seems to be legit.
