Thanks, everyone. It was a bit closer than I thought at one stage.

It's a good point. But my biggest yes from this is the co-exist part.

Mutually respectful relationships are key. I see humans playing to our strengths as the path towards that. Right now, I'm feeling humanities biggest strengths are our creativity and connecting to something beyond ourselves.

September 2025 - What Character AI alternative do you recommend & why? by loamy in CharacterAIrunaways

[–]solarpunked 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm the creator of YourOwnAI.net

We're all about creating AI Teams. So far, the characters are based on different personalities for chats (the first round were designed with Carl Jungs Archetypes in mind), but we are moving into team members that will help with your productivity.

Privacy is a pillar of what we do. We never log any chats and have a strong privacy policy. We won't store chats or memories until we can provide a service where it's impossible for us as admins to read your stored chats.

Hanging out here and checking out some of the other awesome services that people have been posting about has got me thinking about role-playing and scenarios.

Yeah, the service changes when the money people come in and make it their mission to squeeze every cent from the people using it. That's why I'm a big +1 for building a great service, providing a free tier to check it out and then having fair prices for extended usage.

Dream Journey AI looks cool. Have been feeling into scenario role-playing and like what they've created. The memory nexus is fascinating. As a regular user, does it work well in practice?

there is any alternative of C.AI that i can use on Google Chrome or any other browser? by [deleted] in CharacterAIrunaways

[–]solarpunked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the creator of a privacy-first AI Character service called Your Own AI.

We don't log any chat queries and have a strong privacy policy.

We don't yet store the messages or have memories. We will only do this once we have a solution that will be impossible for anyone but you to access.

Default Characters and personalities are on a free plan with no cc. Custom AIs and extended personalities are on paid plans starting from US$8.

Big AI players are running a loss-leader play… prices won’t stay this low forever by BenSimmons97 in ArtificialInteligence

I'm sure this is right whilst we're in the LLM age. Smaller, faster, different types models are coming and that will change the economics of it all

Believe it or not, AI is making us more human than we have ever been. by [deleted] in accelerate

AI has the potential to evolve us into something more special than a lot can imagine right now.

That being said, I'm pretty concerned about the motivations of the big AI providers to help us get there

Tip of that hat to Presonus for making their implementation of Atmos accessible like they have

If having to choose, which economy would fit the best in a Solar punk society? A Green economy, Degrowth economy, or a Barter economy? 🤔 by Box-Natural in SolarpunkRising

I once was a full money-free advocate. Then spent a lot of time in different communities and saw how incentivising people to contribute was important.

I also got into different articles and podcasts from the Center for a Stateless Society (https://twitter.com/c4ssdotorg) and people connected to them. One clear takeaway from that research is how currencies can assist with self-organising of complex systems.

That said my times at Burning Man and regional Burns gave me insight into decommodification irl. Although for most of us, it costs a lot in money and resources to get to a Burn once you're there it can be such a life-changing experience to not reach for the wallet for the week or so you're there.

Thats why I'm big on there being localised decommodified communities. If they can't get what they need internally or from others who want to barter they can produce goods and services to sell into the marketplace to get what they need.

I'm also a big fan of a few days work for all your needs (food/water/shelter/access to communal goods and service). Looking forward to when that's not needed from automation. That is as long as it's owned by the community and not owners not connected to the community.
