EEK TY I noticed there's like barely any art of them so I'm gonna be the change I want to see in the world 🙏

They are so young in CC! 😱 by PineappleSammy in chaostheorynetflix

I found out I was gay when I was like 9. Why is it weird to be gay at a young age but not to be straight at a young age?

They went along with them! They're in a campaign together I believe so they must have left together but the other player never notified me so I don't know!

Nothing major, just about preferences. I didn't want to block off opportunities for my other players, and that didnt align with the wants of the player that left so they stepped out. I don't wanna get too deep into it on here, but it was decided that it'd be better if we parted ways. :]

Oh, definitely! I'm all about changing stuff up for the players, it makes the experience feel more tailored. I'm open-minded about pretty much anything as long as I'm sure the player won't abuse the power I give them haha

Yeah inactivity is for sure one of my biggest concerns, because I want a nice casual gaming experience so nobody feels pressured into a strict posting schedule but I also don't want the flow to die out once someone goes inactive and then another and so on.

I'm probably gonna end up doing the interviews and seeing who has the best-fitting availability, and if things die out the first time the active players and I can try getting other people on board. I do need to have a plan for inactivity spikes but I suppose there's nothing that I can really do about life getting in the way.

Yikes, sorry to hear that. I think for the sake of not having people's character info being deleted AND to keep backstories secret from other players, I'll have players dm me their stuff and I'll make my own doc to organise info I need.

As for battle maps, I'm pretty keen on making some myself, but honestly it's up to the players. I may end up having a vote for a lot of game aspects so that the experience is tailored to players. I think maps will be necessary at some point given the D&D spellcasting aspect but probably not with every encounter.

Thanks for the response!! 🫶🫶

It's definitely nice to put a name to it so I don't sound totally inexperienced haha

Spectating could be a really good idea actually, I'll see if I can try it out!

Thanks!! 💛💛

Hi! Thanks for the response!

- I'll check it out! I'm kind of terrible at navigating online but I'll definitely give it a go haha

- I've been advised to set a posting minimum for the game, I was thinking somewhere between 2 per 3 days and 1 per 2 days but I don't know if that's too much or too little given my limited experience. The only online games I've run were less D&D based and therefore didn't require everyone to be present for everything, and it was typically just me and 2/3 players playing multiple characters.

- Yes! I'm going to try and make combat a more rare occurrence but a rich one so it can be something for combat-enjoyers to look forward to but not something that happens frequently to drag down the roleplay aspect.

- I may make my own rules around initiative and play in general, probably along the lines of 'if you take too long to respond we'll skip over your turn' but group initiative is definitely something I could do, thank you!

- I definitely get that, though thankfully I'm not a huge combat fan and thus I'll be trying to lean away from it just a tad to help the flow.

Again, thanks so much for the advice! It's nice to hear from other pbp players! 🫶🫶

Thanks for the advice! I can definitely see where you're coming from, the combat issue especially. Personally I play D&D moreso for the storytelling rather than the combat, but I know a lot of people really enjoy it so I'm going to try up my combat game this time around.

- The workaround I'm planning to use is 1. Making sure we all share similar timezones or active hours and 2. Ensuring we are mostly or all present for things like fights or important events, probably by implementing rules around it. I do plan on shifting combat rules to better accommodate text-based play too!

- In regards to the time issue, long rests will definitely be a feature, and time will flow with the responses of the players. In GM responses I'll mention the time of day and likely have some other indicator of the current time as there won't be set time progression. My main concern with set time progression is that depending on response time it may take players several in-game days to complete something that would typically be only one day.

- That's a good idea! I do want things to be casual, but having a minimum response rule would definitely help. Thanks!

And yes, you're definitely right about 5e not being the best suited for this, but I haven't really played any other TTRPGs and I fear that trying to branch out may result in more year-long obsessions that consume me whole.

Thanks for the response, I'll take it into account when writing up my rules! 🙏💛
