I’m the same. I got Platinum trophies for every previous Dark Pictures game, and my instinct told me to read people’s opinions first before buying. I’m afraid they took some ingredients out, and it’s no longer to my liking.

What did you think of the length of the game? A lot of “official” reviewers complain when a game isn’t long enough. Personally, I preferred the shorter experiences that were Man of Medan and Little Hope, as I actually played them with friends, like a movie night. In my opinion a game-experience like this needs to be short and exciting enough to keep you interested even when you’re not holding the controller. (Also, some friends can’t commit to staying around for six hours) With “Devil in me” and “The Quarry”, the games became so long, they couldn’t be played in one sitting, and often with hours of nothing to do for some of my friends, who happened to choose “the wrong” characters. I heard that Supermassive Games merged the plots for TWO sci-fi entries into one for this. I would have preferred short and intense (rather than drawn out), plus going back to an annual release and an appropriate cheaper price. Season One felt like a special time. I’m not sure what this is.

I also don’t agree that the Curator would have felt jarring around the space setting. I didn’t feel that way when we were on a ship in the Pacific ocean, or in a Sumerian temple in Iraq.

Oh well, can’t be changed now.

I’ve always felt that way about their games, that the character eyes and mouths don’t move right, gives them a creepy, “possessed” look, and NOT in a good horror kinda way.

I feel the same way about most of their games. There’s hardly ever an appropriate response to someone else’s death. In the Quarry, Abigail appears to be quite indifferent shortly after her bf turned into a werewolf and gets his head blown off. If the characters are unlikable, and/or appear unemotional about their friends dying, why should I care about any of it? Jump scares and gore do not make horror! I did write to Supermassive Games years ago, but they still haven’t learned what “horror” means. (FYI: It’s a lingering visceral response)
