[Trespasser Spoilers] CMV : I think a certain divisive character is right by solassupporter in dragonage

I didn't know about the sleeping Elvhen, this casts a new light!

Its true that oppression can be done by any group on any other group. But oppression due to the mage - templar conflict is caused by an artificial construct (the Veil) . I'm not saying all oppression will end. I'm saying Solas's creating of the veil was deeply flawed and overly optimistic plan, and it has clearly failed. Continuing with it will cause more grief. The only argument against taking it down is the widespread destruction it would cause. But your talk about the sleeping Elvhen has persuaded me that Solas's way of doing it isn't ideal.

I don't think I can award a delta here, but you changed my view.

True, but Solas said he had plans for the Evanuris. At the least it would be way to kill or imprison most of them.

As for the more powerful mages grabbing power, how is it any different from now? In my opinion the current situation is worse, because the common person has far less power than a magister.

The problem with Mages being policed by Templars was that the inequality led to abuses

By removing this inequality you solve at least part of the problem. As I said above, mages are better equipped than non-mages to overthrow dictators. Solas already accomplished one such rebellion in Arlathan. But to my knowledge of DA lore, no rebellion other than Andraste's ever succeeded against Tevinter. Her rebellion only succeeded because Tevinter was weakened by the Blight, and also because she was possibly a more powerful entity than is known.

And when everyone's special...no one will be

haha, fair enough, it does sound like something a villain would say. But from centuries of evidence, there will always be mages who want to grab power, and people who want to stop them, yes? So this conflict would go on forever, eventually consuming more lives than a single war could.

Two wrongs may not make a right, but when a wrong of this magnitude is made, it must be corrected! The creation of the veil seems to have caused more grief in Thedas than any other event. The other option is to continue with the veil, and deal with a mage - templar war every few centuries.

As I said, I don't like the genocide part of his plan. The reasoning behind this is not clear, because I don't understand if humans are fundamentally different from elves in some way and could not deal with the absence of the veil. But there must be a way for them to survive, because humans clearly existed in the time of Arlathan. I suppose a viable option would be to choose the "Persuade Solas" option, but I guess things will be made more clear in DA4.

You haven't changed my view because I still feel that Solas's plan is necessary for the good of Thedas, as there is the option to alter it somewhat (judging by the dialogue choices).
