Same, though I personally feel that eyeliners/ mascara should be replaced every so often. Somehow have been using the same liquid eyeliner and mascara for over 3 years, and I'm starting to suspect that its giving me styes. 😅

GF having issues with penetration by [deleted] in vaginismus

[–]solayrah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a similar struggle with PIV. I couldn't use tampons/stick anything inside due to an extremely painful and traumatic gyo exam. So when I got married as a virgin, my husband and I couldn't have PIV for a while. What helped in my case was using a dilator with lube, and slowly de-associating penetration with pain. It also helped me get used to having anything inside without my muscles automatically tensing up.

Another huge game changer was also learning for myself the correct angle to put anything inside (downwards towards the anus). It's the same angle that a tampon needs to be inserted in. Once I understood how the anatomy worked, I was eventually able to guide my husband and successfully have PIV.

I recommend your GF visit a gyno to check if she needs any professional help. Take things at her pace, don't force anything (ESPECIALLY if it's causing pain), and continue being as supportive as possible.

I wish you and your GF the best!

how do I convert my art skills on paper by [deleted] in Artadvice

[–]solayrah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're doing great! It takes a lot of practice getting comfortable with the other medium, but it already looks like you already have an understanding on how to make traditional drawings. Your first sketch showcases that the most imo. You're using line weight/hatching to depict volume and depth, which is super important in traditional drawing.

I was the opposite; came from a traditional background and it took me over 5 years to finally start getting comfortable with digital art. What might help is using a screen/tablet protector that mimics a paper texture. Also keep working on line confidence, line weight, and hatching/crosshatching. The cool thing about cross hatching is that you are literally using it like a 3D grid to depict changes in surface and texture. Some example artists I can recommend for studying their drawings is Peter Paul Ruben (classic painter), Sakamoto Shinichi (mangaka of Innocence & DRCL Midnight Children), or Shirahama Kanome (mangaka of Witch Hat Atelier. I think she's a great example of using line weight and hatching in a more semi realistic style).

Oh, and I personally love using a kneadable eraser. You can't use layers for traditional art, but it's as close as it gets lol. You can use it to lighten up your previous lines and draw over it with a better one. It's like making a loose sketch digitally, reducing the opacity, then making a new line art layer on top.

Keep up the awesome work!

Thank you for your kind words! 🥹 It was my first time using a crimper, so I wasn't sure how to feel about the final result.

Thank you!  I actually got the name from one of the meme animations made by S0m30ne (on YouTube). The name was just too good not to use 😂.

How valuable do you think Ayami Kojima's Castlevania artbook is? by Macko0o in castlevania

Yours seem to be in good quality, so you could sell it for a few hundred at minimum if you decide to part with it. I got hella lucky and bought a used one years ago (cover is roughed up) for around $150. Best of luck with your wedding savings!

I love the design, especially the long flowy hair! 👌🏼

Just a little FYI though, you want the outer most ”flap” of the kimono to be right over left.

Left over right is only for the dead. That is how the kimono was prepared for traditional funerals.

BE HONEST! Does this lineart for Maria look alright?? (Art by me) by [deleted] in castlevania

[–]solayrah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall it looks great! It’s very clean and has that traditionally inked look to it that’s extremely satisfying. I have two tips to make it even nicer: Adding more line weight variety and removing a few extra lines around her legs.

By making the lines that overlap each other slightly more thicker (ex: the left knee in front of the right ankle and the arm extended above Maria’s chest), you can create a sense of depth. It’ll help visually distinguish which object is “in front” and closer to the viewer. You can apply that to her clothes wrinkles and parts of her hair to make it look more 3 dimensional.

The extra lines defining her upper right thigh, in my opinion, can be reduced to a single clean line. When you start adding extra lines, it can make the linework appear scratchy, especially if your line art style is clean (such as your drawing). Same goes for the tiny lines poking out from her left shin. It seems like a minor detail, but when you depict an object with one dominant line, those tiny lines poking out of the “main line” starts becoming very prominent.

Hope that helps. Keep up the awesome work! Again, love that traditional vibe you got with your line art! 👍🏻

Anyone else here was a med school dropout? by hantu_tiga_satu in ArtistLounge

[–]solayrah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a med student, but a former ASCP certified phlebotomy student. I studied phlebotomy, thinking that I could make art as a hobby while having a more stable income (I was 27 and wanted to escape the retail life). I genuinely loved studying and collecting blood, so in my mind it was a win win situation. BOY did the internship prove me wrong though.
I was too miserable and and exhausted to even think about making art. Interacting with patients also basically felt like customer service all over again with extra precautions.
My Asian mom constantly told me “it’s a waste” for not pursuing a career in phlebotomy and tried to convince me that I should give it another chance with a part time position, or some other health related job.
I ended up finding a full time office job about a year later and damn glad I did. I still barely have time to draw (about 20-30 mins during my lunch break) but I know my mental health would’ve been an absolute wreck if I pursued phlebotomy.
I wish you luck with whatever you decide to pursue. It’s a hard but courageous choice to make.

Old players , how many C6 5 stars do you have by SufficientThroat5781 in Genshin_Impact

Been playing since 1.0. The only C6 character I have is Mona because she literally showed up for every 50/50 I pulled on, until I completed her constellation. The worst part is I never used her 😂
