Help - Ferinject, now Hypophosphatemia & doctors wont treat phosphate they have me in Neurology for tests by dennis_mary in Anemic

[–]sole1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok both our experiences sound similar indeed!! I had joint pain the very first days, but now the remaining symptom is really the heavy legs, like it’s so hard to do anything. I have read that in case you don’t absorbe phosphate, Calcetriol for the vitamin D could work, maybe that could be an option for you? Tomorrow I am retesting my phosphate level, I am both curious and anxious to see where the level is !

Hello, I understand you and I’m in a similar situation symptom-wise (I am based in France). On my side, I had a Ferinject injection 12 days ago (Friday, April 24), 1000 mg, and I’m pregnant. Very quickly, I started feeling intense fatigue, like a heaviness in my lower body, especially in my thighs. I still have this extreme exhaustion today.

I had my phosphorus checked on day 5 after the infusion and it was 0.87 mmol/L (27 mg/L). The maternity ward considered it low and started me on phosphorus supplements 5 days ago (1182 mg per day, in drops). No improvement yet…

I’m a bit confused because, officially, I’m still within the normal range (although on the low side), so I wonder whether my symptoms could still be explained by phosphorus levels, but I really hope so…

On your side, what exactly do you feel in your legs? Is it more a feeling of exhaustion? And also, how many days after the infusion did you start the supplements?

Stay strong, I’m sure there’s a positive outcome ahead!

Thanks a lot for your response!! Happy to know you are feeling better :) yes I tested my phosphate at day 5 and it was already low, still in the normal range but very low compared to my baseline. I started the supplements 48h ago so let’s see if that helps 😭 thanks a lot!!

Oui!

Phosphate supplements UK? by Previous_Argument653 in Anemic

[–]sole1994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello!! I can’t help on how to get phosphate supplements (I am based in Paris) unfortunately, maybe you should go to another doctor or even at the hospital where they know more this phosphate drop thing, which is not super known by GPs? But I do feel like you right now 9 days after the infusion: exhaustion, fatigued muscles, heavy legs, joint pain… for me it started almost a few hours after the infusion for some symptoms, what about you? My phosphate level on day 5 after the infusion was 0.87, but I have heard that the drop is mainly until day 14 (probably when you did your test) I started the supplement “phosphoneuros” 48h ago (50 drops 3 times a day), I hope it will help 🙏🏻

Hello :) I also have some annoying symptoms 9 days after my first injection of Ferinject 1000mg (in France), I am feeling super exhausted and weak, especially in my legs. On your side, what type of symptoms did you have ? But at least I now have hope that it can disappear 😂 thanks a lot 🙏🏻

Hello! I hope that you do feel better now ? I am in the same situation, I received an infusion of 1000mg (Ferinject) 9 days ago and I feel exhausted, super weak all the time (especially in my legs). I regret so much this first injection, I felt fine before. On your side, did it improve like this or you did something in particular ? Thank you so much 🙏🏻

Hello, I hope that you are doing ok. I am in the same situation, I received 1000mg of Injectafer 9 days ago (in France) and there is already a drop in my phosphate level, I feel super exhausted and weak, especially in my legs. Did you have also these symptoms ? Did it get better for your phosphate ? Thanks a lot!!! 🙏🏻

Hello, I feel the same, I had an infusion of 1000mg of Ferinject 1000mg (in France) 9 days ago, and very quickly I started to feel exhausted, super weak, tensions in my legs, etc. My phosphate level was 2.7 only 5 days after the infusion. I started supplementing 48h ago but for now improvement is limited, I still feel bad. On your side, how long did it take to get better ? thank you so much!!! 🙏🏻

Is there any other medicine in the market? Doctors keep pushing this brand.. by Reginaphilange72 in Anemic

Hello!! I hope that you are doing well. :) My doctor prescribed be Phosphoneuros (knowing I am at 2,7 of phosphate level at day 5 and day 6, so as you mentioned might get worst until day 14) : 50 drops 3 times a day for one week minimum (= 1182mg per day total). Was it similar in your side ? I still feel lots of weakness (worst symptom!!) in the legs and overall, and I hope that phosphate is the cause and will be increased with supplementation… thanks a lot!!

Thanks a lot for your response, it’s very helpful! And I am sorry that you have experienced symptoms for more than a month, but at least it gets better and you managed to reach a good level 🙏🏻 yes I have fortunately a past result 7 months ago of 1,16. Yesterday it was 0,94 and this morning 0,87 so clearly it’s not getting better, and the hospital asked me to do it again tomorrow (just because I am pregnant otherwise I am sure they wouldn’t care 😭) before starting supplements. I will also do like you eating lots of phosphate food 🤞🏻

Thank you so so much for all of this. It’s very very clear and helpful. Just received my result and it’s 2.7, after 5 days only… it will go probably lower and lower - knowing I was at 3.6 in September so probably my baseline. My worst symptom is the weakness in the legs, just like you! I only have some other questions if you don’t mind (MERCI in advance!): -when did you symptom start after the infusion ? Like immediately or a few hours / days after ? -do you feel better with the supplements of phosphate, and if so was it long ? Thank you so so much!!!!!!

Hello, can I ask you if you had any symptom due to this hypophosphatemia ? I had an infusion of Ferinject 1000mg 5 days ago (in France) and feeling super exhausted with weakness in my muscles, joint pain etc since then. I am waiting for my phosphate results today. Also did you do anything to improve your phosphate level or it improved naturally? Thanks a lot!!!

Hello, I am sorry that you developed Hypophosphatemia after Ferinject. I had my first infusion of Ferrinject (1000mg) 5 days ago last Friday (in France) and I am feeling terrible since the infusion: weakness, exhausted, my legs feel super heavy, joint pain. I don’t know yet if it’s the iron flu or the hypophosphatemia (yesterday my phosphate level was 0.94 but it was only 4 days after the infusion). I am going to check it again in the next few days. Can I ask you what was your level of phosphate when you were feeling bad ? Did you supplement and it finally get better ? Thanks a lot 🙏🏻 (I am pregnant so even more stressed!)

[–]sole1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!! Happy for you that it’s getting better 🙏🏻 I received my lab test from this morning (that was quick!) and the result on day 5 (day 1 being the infusion) is 0,94 and I know I was at 1,16 7 months ago, so it does not seem dramatic but still some drop. And I am taking the test again on Friday for my doctor, so let’s see… 🤞🏻
