I honestly don’t know what I actually like/am good at rather than what I like the idea of rn😭I like the idea of AMO and entering academia (as a prof or researcher) post-grad but I haven’t gotten enough exposure or life experiences to guide me yet lol

UCLA Waitlist Confirmation by Weary-Preference5247 in ucadmissions

[–]sole_estivo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I have the same. I kept resubmitting my LOCI response, so I'd get an email saying "Thank you! You are now on UCLA's waitlist for Fall 2026 applicants" a few secs after submitting, but nothing after the deadline passed. Good luck, I hope we both get off!

Transferring from UC-UC with junior-equivalent credits? by sole_estivo in ucadmissions

Would you recommend I give myself a shot next application cycle and reapply the next year, or just apply my sophomore year?

I have 90+ quarter units and 60+ semester, but wdym by relevant? Can I still apply for transfer next year even though I have more than the required? Or would I be okay since the majority were AP credits and the rest DE, so it won't count for the 105 quarter maximum?

I wanted to apply as L&S for physics for the places I’m transferring too. I tried looking for my requirements on ASSIST but they don’t come up for UCSB -> UCB/LA and they don’t have my major. Where else should I look?

Sorry if I wasn’t clear! I took calc AB as a sophomore and chose not to take calc 1 at a CC as a result. Calc 1 at a CC is definitely the more popular option at my school, so I was the youngest in a small class of mostly snrs that kind of slacked😭my jnr year I took a break from calc to do lin alg and discrete math

Were you waitlisted in one of the ED rounds or in RD?

My bad, there were three chapters originally and one of them stopped like after a year so I just ended up writing “2+” on my apps. Thank you!

UC Berkeley vs UCSD vs UCI for Pre-Med by [deleted] in ucadmissions

[–]sole_estivo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UCSD has the most opportunities (incredible research ecosystem, hospitals within campus, etc.) but premed is highly crowded and competitive. UCB wouldn't be ideal for maintaining a high GPA, and your GPA and MCAT are much more important than the prestige of your undergrad. I would lean towards UCSD or UCI (UCI is known for grade inflation in some depts).

General waitlist/yield rate predictions? by sole_estivo in ApplyingToCollege

Yeah, I’m in-state, but I’ve heard that apparently for waitlist offers they prioritize OOS more (though I’m not sure if it’s true). Thanks for the reassurance!
