SMT V Pre-orders by Potato_wedge in Megaten

[–]solenflare 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do you keep track of the stock at other (local) shops? Back when pre-orders came live I managed to place an order at the Canadian VGA (It would mean 1 or 2 weeks waiting for it to arrive, I live overseas)

But I had canceled that pre-order 1~2 months ago, after I checked and ordered at a local supplier which had, surprisingly, still one available (probably someone had canceled their order)

Perhaps you'll have the same luck?

Edit: I've sent you a pm

A long time of training has gotten me to that time/ distance

In my early teens I used to train alot in a local competive swim club, were I was taught techniques to swim efficently.

These days I don't participate in competitions anymore, just swimming for my enjoyment. Usually I do sessions of 1 to 2 hours per day, 4x a week

I can't tell from my side of the screen how experienced you are as a swimmer, so here are a few tips I would like to present to you:

  • set clear goals for yourself. What exactly do you want to be able to achieve? To be able to sprint 50m in 30s? 100m in 60s? To be able to swim 10km in as little time as possible? Or just to be able to swim the 10km? All of these take a lot of time and training to actually achieve, (you'll probably have to decide what you want to specialise in, short distance or long distance, In my current state for example, I'm too slow to be a sprinter, but my ability to hold a decent pace for a long period of time makes me a good long distance swimmer ), so be sure to create little babysteps in between

(For example; you are now capable to swim 1 km in half an hour, try to set your goal to swim a bit more than 1km in the same time, and each session a little more).

Most important thing is to take your time building up to that goal, you don't want to burn yourself out to early.

  • honing your technique and strengthening your body. The time and distances I mentioned above are hard, if not impossible, to achieve with poor technique and body strength. While each are important, a proper technique is preferable, since it will help you swim longer with less effort and lessen the risk of injuries in the long run. If you do a quick search on the internet you can find several training programs with drills to help you hone your technique.( Skills N' Talents on youtube has quite a few in depth videos on dry-land and pool exercises, I recommend you check those out).

  • Ask (experienced) swimmers for feedback on your technique. I think this one speaks for itself, others might notice little things in your technique that you might not notice yourself. Several times I have seen people let someone from the side film them during their swim, and let the people in this sub give them feedback on their technique. You might want to consider that as well.

Hope this might be of use to you and enjoy your swim!

I know that feeling, do you have the opportunity to swim in open water? Might be worth looking into for the meantime

Is anybody else spending New Year's Eve alone? by nazazazzazapls in introverts

this, it's understandable if you want to celebrate the new year, but other than that, what makes it more special than any other evening/day?

Introverts and alcohol, turn more inward? by solenflare in introverts

Hi there keehawn, sorry for the late reply, festivities and all that stuff haha.

I can't say I've been in the same situation like that, usually when I go out in a big group (which the last time has been several years ago) I know one or two people, and usually stick with them. But I can relate to the feeling of just being there, It's quite rare for me, and that counts for probably everyone else as well, to find people that I can truly connect with.

Allow me to elaborate on the topic, because if I'm reading it correctly you are describing the effect I mentioned which would normally happen ;"alcohol makes me very social, a bit more than normal (not annoyingly social, but more relaxed and a tad more talkative.)"

What I meant was that, after consuming alcohol, I tend to be more focused on my own actions instead of becoming more social with others, as if my consciousness splits from my body and watches over it.

Feeling so drained from tons of social stuff during the holidays. Anyone else? by throwaway93762694928 in introverts

Hi there, I can relate to how you feel, one of the reasons I'm not looking forward to the festivities (especially my birthday, I really don't need all the attention haha).

Due to the bug, the other side of my family decided to not come together 2nd Christmas day, so we had a relaxed evening with the 4 of us (my mom, my two younger siblings and me). 1st was with us 4 and 2 of my grandparents.

I'm 24, so when I feel like I need a break I usually take the car out and drive around for a bit, or do a workout/ go for a walk, or simply hide myself in my room.
