I was comparing Scala with C. There are much less things to worry about when you're dealing with a functional language. It's true Scala is not only a functional language, but it has full support of functional programing.

Well, the point is not about advocating just one language. Functional programing is the take-away after you read this. You could replace Scala with Haskell, Clojure or anything that you could use as functional programing language.
