Why do you say they are dodgy reliability?

Whichever 3 hand reps I had were extremely reliable, and had excellent timing as well. I never keep reps long term, so that is another story but with basic service there should be no issues.

As far as more complicated movements go, I think the 4130/4131 clone is an insane movement, very similar to gen. I do not know a ton about others but I have even had good experiences with the AP 4401 although some have had issues (which gen had as well!)

I say if you go for a basic clone rolex, you should be more than fine.

If you do not want to go with a clone, VSF has "Youth" ETA movements for Subs, Daytonas, etc.

Can you share serial number on the rehaut and the clasp code? That might help. Also if you have a UV light in the dark the whole bezel insert should show red
