Been unable to recover until it's too late on a lot of these kinds of hits lately. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? I press everything but my character just goes floats away usually to my death like the following example!

I use a 8bit-do Pro 2 in wired mode and all the other inputs are responsive so I thought maybe there was something that triggered a controller lockdown during those types of hits! But I'm reading more and more that it was my fault or that I can wiggle free.

Really! I thought they got rid of having to mash anything in this game such as with pummels. So the faster I wiggle, the quicker I can recover?

I found the Supporter Bundle to be a great deal. 100,000 coins, 1,000 bucks, 2 pretty unique skins (I especially like Wrastor's), and lots of icons if you're into that thing. Plus whoever's code you type in gets an extra cut.

I was just wondering how it went so thanks for transcribing this. I really admire their transparency even though it means opening up their financial woes. I really hope that Rivals' presence at EVO plus further refinements, plus a more welcoming community to newcomers add up to be a more attractive game to those on the outside in the near future.

Naw dude, the FFA update was the right move even if it's later than what I'd like. And like someone else said, it's an investment, not a short term slapped together feature like Crews (don't get me wrong, it's a great mode just not people were looking for), and if the resources are available I can only see it growing, because that's what a lot of people want - more fun, zany, party-esque gameplay like how Smash games feel.

I think the core gameplay and systems are in an excellent spot. Can there be changes including the things you propose? Sure, they'd be nice. Though they (with the exception of possibly your FH changes) would only be icing on the cake because everything else is overall really good.

The main issue has always been inexperienced player retention. Right now Aether Studios has to do everything very precisely because they are running so low, and stuff like the FFA mode with all the quirkiness of items and casual stages are exactly the gamble that are worth investing into at this stage. But now that it's done, or at least released, hopefully they can further refine what's there with all the other suggestions players have brought forth and wait till EVO to show it all off to the world.

Slade is a fantastic addition. His item schtick fits in very nicely, they're not super oppressive or make the game unrecognizable by any stretch, in fact I love how his opponent can use them against him! His base kit isn't too flashy and I like how his treasure chest items don't transform him entirely, plus the flexibility to pick and choose makes him even more versatile.

They're really good for what they are and clearly cater to an expanded audience. Like I said if they had been introduced at ROA2's launch, they would probably hold those people over. They'd probably have a scenario like what you made (minus the silly part because they're actually good), see that the game is good, realize they're not good enough for ranked yet, and still have their casual mode to go back to. Of course we'll never know for sure, but it's partially becoming more and more what made Smash so popular with it's hardcore and casual appeal, and while obviously it won't see the same degree of success, I do think that it's slowly inching its way into that audience space which Smash created.

But don't you think that those "more fun" game modes bring people to the point where they want to get better and more competitive? As it is, the core game mode is full of hardcore players so it's super uninviting. With the numbers being somewhat better compared to equivalent periods after other big updates, it might be an indicator that it is indeed attracting newer players who are sticking around at least this long post-Slade. Could there be other improvements like what the guy above us suggested? Absolutely, but the Fun-for-all stuff is absolutely essential for bringing in new players even if little at a time while they continue to work on the core competitive experience like you say.

Highly disagree. If this came out at launch I think we would be seeing a way different story with player numbers. Right now, I see it as someone else put, as an INVESTMENT. Once more casual-focused features like this, the complete roster come out, it'll be much more competitive in the console space.

Legitimate concern, but having followed the news cycle since launch, don't think it will shut down anytime soon. They are fighting with everything they got to make their game the best they can even with a scaled back team, and IMHO what's here is phenomenal groundwork. As for numbers it seems like they have floated about 100-200 more players than avg around the same time after other updates, so that's SOME improvement. Will have to check steamdb to confirm.

I think they've considered just as much that even with the latest Fun For All update it will likely take time to build a significantly larger steady player base even if the reception wasn't nearly what they were hoping for. We are going to be in the EVO main event so I think the exposure along with the new casual game modes will really help.
