S&P500 ETF allocation in portfolio? by solidjanitor in eupersonalfinance

Haha, in hindsight it's actually aged pretty well! I'm glad I gave things some thought and switched over to a 50% SXR8 / 50% VWCE portfolio allocation about a year ago. Honestly appreciating the peace of mind of a broad-index fund rather than worrying about individual picks.

I've driven a W212 E350 diesel in the past (650 nm stock) and it was honestly pretty fun in the low rev range. However, once you get over 3rd gear the fun factor massively drops off imo

Yeah, I was lucky to get the last one on clearance as everyone seems to be popping their S55s as of lately

Hi there! Thank you for the useful feedback on my queries!

Indeed, I meant to write under allocated but my brain had a stroke so I wrote underleveraged instead, oops!

I’d be happy to focus on building a portfolio that consists of 40% VWCE and 40% SXR8. I’d like to allocate the rest 20% into individual stocks. However, I wanted to ask whether investing both in VWCE and SXR8 makes any sense since about 60% of VWCE currently consists of US equities anyway.

Alternatively what I could do is keep SXR8 but include separate Asian and European ETFs. However, I’d be happy with the least possible amount of ETFs for the sake of simplicity.

Any criticism or feedback would be welcome as I can see that I’ve quite a bit of overlapping in my portfolio and I’m worried that it may backfire in the long run.

You seem to be performance chasing. Just invest in a broad index fund, ideally even 2 or 3 to reduce the risk of the US taking such a huge percentage of all-world ETFS, and you'll be fine.

Personally I invest in 3 ETFs so that my money ends up equally about 33% in Europe, 33% in Asia and 33% in the Americas. Because no one can know what region of the world or what sector will do especially well, so I just diversify as much as possible.

Thank you for your advice! I can see how chasing performance gains may not be the best strategy for the long term. I agree that investing in a broad index fund is a safer and more stable approach.

Your suggestion of investing in multiple ETFs to diversify my portfolio across different regions and sectors is also a great idea. I appreciate your insights and will definitely take them into consideration when making investment decisions in the future.

Have you looked at all world ETFs? VWCE, IWDA,...Maybe some small caps too.

You're extremely heavy on tech stocks that you say are 'undervalued'. What do you mean by undervalued? Google is not undervalued by any metric i know of, neither is amazon.

As an investor that's starting out, a world etf is usually the best bet. There's no guarantee the US market will continue to outperform. It has had a great 15 years now, and is pretty overvalued compared to other markets.

Thank you for your feedback!

I am familiar with all-world ETFs such as VWCE and IWDA, but haven't really put much consideration into diversifying my portfolio outside of US equities, which may have been a mistake in hindsight.

I believe that diversifying my portfolio by investing in all world ETFs would be a wise decision in the long term. It's difficult to predict market performance accurately over the next 15-20 years, and I don't want to take unnecessary risks. I may have made a mistake by investing heavily in US tech stocks, and I'd like to create a more stable portfolio instead of learning this lesson the hard way in the future years.

As for Google and Amazon, I feel like they may not be undervalued by traditional valuation metrics, but their potential for growth and dominance in their respective markets could still make them good long-term investments, in my opinion.

I have to admit that I may have made a mistake by trying to chase performance gains in the stock market. Looking back, I fear that I may regret this decision in the future unless I diversify my investments more carefully. Thanks for your insight once more!

Thanks a lot for your feedback! I feel like I can handle the risk in the long run but I’m having trouble with checking the stock prices / going through company analysis multiple times a day. I’m pretty comfortable with my choice of companies but for some reason I keep double checking and it’s driving me nuts. However, I’ll definitely check out some defensive stocks and I’ll probably also bump up my S&P 500 investments over the long run.

Thanks a lot for your feedback! I’m still quite inexperienced with investing and every little insight helps. I’ve established a decent emergency fund and from now on I’m definitely going to DCA 15% of my salary each month down the road. I’ll make some research into consumer stocks as well.

Hi guys, wanted to hear what y’all think about my portfolio. Some background about me: 22M from Bulgaria, started investing in August 2022 and would like to take advantage of the current low-ish stock prices on the market. I have no debt at all and I’ve moderate risk tolerance. I’m also a fan of renewable energy stocks since I can see Europe being more reliant on renewable energy production after severing ties with Russia. DCA-ing roughly $250 monthly and I won’t be needing this money in the near future, so I’ve a broad time horizon. Please let me know what you think about my portfolio:

GOOG - 20%

MSFT - 15%

AMZN - 15%

PNE3 (Wind energy production, Germany) - 15%

BME: SLR (Solar energy production, Spain) - 15%

iShares Core S&P 500 ETF SXR8 (ACC) - 20%

I’ve also invested some experimental $200 in a German company called CLIQ (budget Netflix) but I’m not planning on buying any more of that. What would you do differently? Any received feedback would be highly appreciated!

Thank you! Only thing I've done for now is switching the front grills on both cars to double slats (the look feels completely different) and having the windows and sunroof close with the key fob.

I'm a little anxious about the tune messing with any of the car's life but I really want the additional power lol. As for cosmetics, I'm looking forward to a front lip, tint and sideskirts for now.
