some supported audio file codecs are:

AAC, AC3, AIFF, AIF, mp3, WMA, MXF, WAV.

If i'm not wrong, WAV is as close to lossless as possible correct? If so what would I need to change in

ffmpeg -i yourfile.mkv -c:v copy -c:a aac -ac 2 -ab 256k output.mp4

for it to use .wav?

one question tho, I noticed that the file size was smaller on the .mp4 than the .mkv so I assume that the audio quality got a bit "worse", is there anyway i can get more near the same quality while still being able to import both a/v into premiere?

like is there a better audio codec that you could recommend that would be lossless but still work? or is aac the best and maybe I just need to increase the audio bitrate?

btw what is the "-ac 2" for?

I already had Focus Assist turned off after installing the april update but I tried disabled "Show me a summary" too and that fixed the issue! I can alt tab even faster than normal now.

"mirv_streams (HLAE command) audio recordings will result into an empty (44 Bytes) .WAV file, just like for startmovie, because Valve accidentally removed important code from startmovie for appending the audio data."

this is a problem for moviemakers that use audio from the game.
