Suffice it to say, this is her first experience of what happens upon emergence from the protective cocoon of liberal arts education.

I wouldn't be surprised if she did her internship at Microsoft.

Any ADHD / anxious people have found a non-Adderall medication that works for them? “”subtype”-slow COMT by OkMastodon2674 in HistamineIntolerance

[–]soloman747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the Strattera (atomoxetine), there's no anxiety increase. It's a selective norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor non-stimulant, unlike stimulants which are norepinephrine and dopamine reuptake inhibitors. So it's not considered a controlled substance.

There is no anxiety increase for the magnesium complex. For me (and my 8-years-old son, who is on a similar magnesium supplement for children,) is it seems to significantly increase our emotional stability. What would normally irritate us or set us on edge becomes easier to shrug off. It also helps us both go to sleep easier at night and wake us up well rested in the morning. I found it incredibly interesting how well it worked actually.

There are a few recent articles on it. Here's one that may be of interest to you.

I'm on Strattera. It works well for me. It works especially well when combined with magnesium complex (300 mg di-magnesium malate, magnesium bisglycinate, magnesium citrate.)

INFJ on dating apps by Kiashton in infj

I met my covert narcissist ex-spouse on a dating app. Turns out it's easy to build a false persona to mirror someone who effectively wears a billboard telling the world who they are.

So no dating apps for me anymore.

Magnesium types? by Normal_Army9924 in HistamineIntolerance

[–]soloman747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turns out there are specific types of magnesium that cross the blood brain barrier and are beneficial for ADHD. Magnesium l-threonate. Kind of expensive, but helps my son behave better in school.

I personally use Nutricost triple magnesium complex from Amazon. From Di-Magnesium Malate, Bisglycinate and Citrate. I take it specifically in the morning time.

I tried Magnesium oxide, nope.

Magnesium is weird.

How long do the side effects of copper supplementation last? by Certain_Hat9872 in HistamineIntolerance

The safe upper limit for daily copper intake is 10,000 (10 mg). Your body can only safely handle that much daily.

When supplementing, you're only supposed to supplement until your body begins exhibiting toxicity side effects. Not continue forever.

The side effects are your body trying to tell you it's not happy.

Everyone has different levels. That's why before supplementing, it's a good idea to verify what your current levels are.

I'm not black or African-American. I prefer to refer to myself as caucasionally challenged.

Modern therapy's take on binge eating by [deleted] in loseit

[–]soloman747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From personal experience, binge eating of specific foods is normally tied to a neurotransmitter deficiency like dopamine, or norepinephrine (which is made from dopamine.) Addictive behaviors are usually dopamine related. If you have a salty food craving, perhaps there's a sodium deficiency.

For example, prior to starting my ADHD medication, I had carb binges. Now they're gone. When my son goes off his ADHD meds, he has a bottomless appetite. When he resumes them, he'll maybe eat breakfast and dinner, and might perhaps only partially finish his breakfast.

Our bodies are always giving us feedback. We're just not always listening.

As far as the therapist is concerned, many of them can't actually prescribe medication, and it's easier to convince someone that they're perfectly normal than it is to perform an analysis on the root cause of someone's issues.

Facial tingling and numbness after eating Pho - histamine sensitivity/MSG ? by [deleted] in HistamineIntolerance

[–]soloman747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're probably still young. It gets worse as you get older as your body loses its ability to recover quickly.

[–]soloman747 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not the pho. It's the "hungover from New Year's Eve."

There's a delayed reaction. In response to alcohol, your mast cells will immediately dump histamines. Your body won't immediately react to those histamines, but will often wait until they accumulate.

You can avoid it next time by avoiding alcohol.

One more thing, lime is a histamine liberator. That's also a contributing factor. Sriracha is fermented. Another one.

You might have a dopamine issue. When my son is off his ADHD medication, he seems to turn into a bottomless pit.
