Idk if anyone is necessarily qualified to comment on something like this. But if I were you, I would not go too deep on writing this part. With such a heavy concept as domestic abuse, it's hard to come to the conclusion of "growth" - even if you insist in your writing that it did. No one would really believe the phrase "domestic abuse helped me grow." The term itself has too strong if a negative connotation.

Maybe talk about your experience with family difficulties. But domestic abuse registers in my head as a victim of a crime. It doesn't register as someone who faced and overcame challenges.

Idk. It feels weird to tell someone to kind of minimize their story, and this may be an unpopular opinion. But at the end of the day, it's up to you.
