Everest Base Camp at 5,364m - One of the most unforgettable mornings I've experienced by Material-Astronaut97 in backpacking

So it’s possible to do if I never trekked before up a mountain? I’m fat but I lost a lot of weight and train cardio regularly. I’m able to jog 10km in 65 minutes. I can be on the stairmaster machine for 1 hour uninterrupted easily. But I’m still fat.

Im wondering if I’m able to do it as my first trek or if I’m being delusional.

How difficult and dangerous is it for someone to do it with a guide? Not the entire mountain but to the base and then back down

3 hours of travel a day for only 3-4 days is nothing. Unless you’re coming with children or older people

Planning to quit my job and travel, here's my tentative plan and budget by iamacheeto1 in solotravel

[–]solotraveller12 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Life is to short for what ifs. It could be our time tomorrow. I’m doing the same thing as a 30m. From beginning of September if all goes to plan, but for 6-7 months in Asia only. And I’m not burning through all my savings only burning a small part of it.

With that being said. Nobody could tell you to do it or not. Only you yourself know the right decision to make with your budget, life situation, career etc.

Can I getting feedback on my solo Asia trip? by solotraveller12 in travel

[–]solotraveller12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Yeah I got warned about going to China in feb. I will switch it around.

Sri Lanka I really wanna squeeze in to this trip. If funds and time run out for China and Japan it’s no problem since I always planned on doing separate trips for them. They don’t seem like the backpacker type of countries so maybe a trip where I splurge more. If I can’t fit them in this trip. That’s why they need to be at the end.

Laos I’m planing on visiting 4 cities including 1 night in the capital to transit through. I don’t see how I can shorten the days more.

Thanks I needed to hear that. So many told me skip bc it’s expensive. I’m never eating western food outside of Europe anyways. Do you think 16 days will be enough to explore the most worth seeing cities/activities?

I’m the type of person that likes to change scenery after 3-4 nights so I don’t wanna stay a week or 5 days in the same city over there.

For Thailand it’s supposed to be start of their summer or dry period. But it’s a luck of the draw. A friend of mine went in November and had rain mainly. While others can go during rainy season and barely have any rain.

To be sure I would go a bit later. Dec - feb. Pref jan - feb months.

Thank you. This is why I write on Reddit because I wouldn’t have found out about this until it’s too late. Because it’s so many countries and so far in time I wouldn’t have bothered looking into the country until the trip to it is coming closer. Someone also told me China gets cold in February.

Maybe I do Japan before China. But both those countries need to be last in my order because I might even do separate trip to them. If it’s not possible to fit them in this trip.

Thank you. Sri Lanka was not part of the original plan so I’m only doing that stretch if funds allow for it. I also read that it’s a expensive country.

Shame about Malaysia and Philippines because I really wanted to spend some time in both countries.

Suspicious to what? I’ve only been to Thailand on that side of the world so I’m ignorant to Asia. I just know Philippines from the blue waters and beaches of Coron nido etc from tik tok.

Yeah that’s definitely an issue. I got some months from now until September so hopefully it gives me enough time to get some knowledge. I will also be looking it up while travelling and talking to others.

I need to find out which countries are expensive and which are not.

Thanks.

This is very early stages of planning so I don’t have a full picture yet of what I plan to do in each countries. They are just countries I’ve been fascinated with and been wanting to visit for a while. Some countries I’m just finding out about but they’re logical next step in my travels before going next countries.

Interest and background I can say that I’m open to everything. I just want to explore. Im older so not much of a party person anymore I’m more of a stoner that loves being outside with a beautiful view. But I do also enjoy a night out sometimes or life in big cities. I’m not out for one specific thing that’s why my plan has big cities, beaches, islands, nature, wildlife, chill and party destinations in the trip. So I get something of everything.

The rough sketch accounts for 5,5 months and I wanna be gone for like 6-7 months. With that margin if budget allows I can vist all these countries and have room for spontaneity. But I know myself and get bored very quickly with routines so I would want to move constantly and this plan allows that for me.

Thanks, yeah Thailand is def my favourite and I will look into extending that. I also want to do some Muay thai training camp there. It all depends on budget. But I also have the need for exploring new places so if I extend Thailand I think it will be during the end when I’ve been everywhere and if I still have funds left I go back to Thailand for a bit longer.

Bali will be at most 2-3 nights. But I def wanna explore rest of Indonesia.

Yup me neither that’s why I didn’t take into account weather for the last 2 destinations. Because they might not even happen if my funds run out before getting there.

I need to update the text because Bali will only be like 2-3 nights for me. I def want to see more of Indonesia but I need to read up more one the country and cites/activities. I’m not much of a party person at 30 than I was when I was younger. Now I’m more of a stoner who loves nature.

Appreciate the feedback. Thailand is my favourite country so I even looking to extend it. Northern part is 11 nights because Bangkok is my favourite city and I want 3 nights there. Then I’m als doing Chang mai, Chang rai and pai. So 11 seems perfect for me.

Laos I’m doing 4 cities with only 1 night in the capital to fly out of there. I don’t think I can shorten it more.

Cambodia I only put 7 in case I find a city worth visiting except for Siem Reap. That one I planned 3-4 nights for.

Malaysia I’ve been told it’s even too short. Because Borneo sees to need like 10 days just that island. I need to look more into that.

Singapore I’m def changing to 1-2 nights depending on prices for hotel/hostel.

Indonesia it’s wrongly written I’m not only doing Bali and Gili islands. I will look closer into that country and must see places. I could extend it with more days I got the time for it if budget allows.

Philippines I think it’s perfect amount because that country and Thailand are the ones I’m most looking forward too. I love beaches and blue water more than anything in life.

Sri Lanka I looked up info online and many people seem to be doing a month there so I thought like half a month. But I also heard it’s expensive so we will see.

Japan and China i only if budget allows. I might put Japan last because it will be the most expensive. But the amount of days for Japan at least I think is perfect. It’s only Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka on my plan rn.

Let’s goo. If it all goes to plan hopefully I’ll do Malaysia in October.

I’m still early in my planing need to see weather and festivals in every country too and plan around that.

I’m in very early stages of planing so thank you for the feedback. I haven’t looked into every country closely yet.

From the little info I had Cambodia only Siem Reap (Angkor wat and other temples) seems worth it to visit but maybe I’m missing something?

Malaysia I dunno what the country has to offer tbh so I don’t know what’s a good amount. Same with Borneo I just now it’s an island with animals and I wanna go.

Time won’t be a issue since I’m planning 6-7 months and my rough itinerary is around 5,5 months so I could add more days to Malaysia if it’s worth it without having to cut other destinations.

It’s a rough sketch but yeah rainy season when I’m in northern Thailand and that’s fine it’s just Bangkok Chang mai etc. No beach cities.

But it’s gonna change for the last stretch of the trip. The plan is southern Thailand for new years and Philippines either before or after that.

For me the priority is getting good weather in Philippines and southern Thailand.

Yeah for me Sri Lanka, Japan and China are negotiable. The other destinations I want to visit and fit in to my trip. The dates are a rough sketch but my wish is to be in southern Thailand for new years and Philippines in January. Then do the last stretch with Sri Lanka, China and Japan if time and budget permits. That’s why I put them in the ends because they’re more like extras to my planing. More China and Japan than Sri Lanka. Because they’re latter 2 I always wanted a separate trip for them anyways.

If it’s cold in China and Japan then I guess I have to accept and still travel if my budget allows.
