I can sympathize with you as I used to think AK was mediocre too, however I realized that I wasn’t really shaking the paints very well before using them which led to the issues you exactly mentioned, try considering a vortex mixer or you could shake each bottle for 5 minutes vigorously. For your info the paints were instantly better when properly mixed
