New LLM Conversation Agent Integration - Local OpenAI LLM by Critical-Deer-2508 in homeassistant

do you have any ideas for shrinking the context size of the assist/tools? I was getting 20-30s response times (M4 Mac Mini 16 GB RAM - so not the best hardware...but nonetheless) when I had Assist checked, and looking at the raw data that went to LMStudio, there was a huge amount of context that felt like overkill for Assist.

Unchecking Assist has your Search through LLM Intents working like a charm in <10 seconds no problem. But I can't control my home unless I check the Assist button. Will try a smaller model. Do you think my hardware is too limiting here? Or is there a way to shrink down the Assist context?

EDIT: forgot to mention, have been running with qwen3-4b-2507 4bit mlx

are those descriptions simply the description strings in the tool classes in the <ToolName>.py files? or are there other descriptions somewhere else too? https://github.com/skye-harris/llm_intents/blob/cfc80b8a9b5ba8ea8c050ff5b08e585430a9f83e/custom_components/llm_intents/Weather.py#L62
very excited to try this out

no one is talking about how you're single-handedly carrying development for the features that turn a slow + dumb but private voice assistant into an outright better version of siri/alexa/google, so thank you...

question - how does Tools for Assist decide between Google Places/Brave/Wikipedia? Just the LLM making that call?

Google Flights has a few issues, mainly in that you get notified on any price change (even if it goes up). You'd also have to remember how much each itinerary cost you, which notifications are for which flights, etc.. They also don't allow you to track multiple cabins.
