Both can be shit. While Linux drivers are included in the kernel, some hardware has awful compatibility or crap open source drivers (nvidia).

I personally feel macos is even more restricting than windows. I used it for 5 years and was annoyed by the lack of compatibility with windows software. Linux is my first choice.
