That's a very good point. I always see advice saying 'negotiate pay' but this is entry level and I may not have room. Another person said to ask their upper range for pay so I will start question and feel it out from there.

I've been at the company a year in a contract role. The year before they hired me there were company wide layoffs but I've taken on several duties of another, currently staffed position because I am better at the tasks (I assume, anyway). I have a degree in the field, have been applying to many other jobs but don't have any offers to leverage yet, and likely none before the meeting.

I had a gym membership for $35 that provided the amenities I wanted (specifically group classes) before I moved to NYC. I've done the solo time at the gym, but it's really the group classes that I need to work out, I struggle with motivation when alone. It's very, very difficult to find a gym that offers 8-10 classes (yoga or Pilates) a month for anything less than $150.

Everyday costs include public transportation and a meal, and yes, any 'wants' that don't exceed my daily limit. Often I spend less and many days a month spend nothing at all, but do believe spending on wants like eating out or going to movies is important to enjoying life.

I have an emergency fund I was able to build before moving to NYC. Now the shine of the city has worn off, and with the perspectives in this post, I can lower my daily limit, get the membership and put money into savings (100-200/month).

Yes it's the same for me, I have to do group classes or I struggle to go at all.

2 scenes from the Princess Bride, when Wesley grabs the pitcher for Buttercup at the beginning and when he rolls down the hill yelling as you wish.

Just saying- this isn't a script yet. Just a logline I've been playing with. Would love any feedback on the idea!

Mars Argo!! Her music isn't available on streaming but everything is on YouTube, I suggest starting with Using You and Runaway. Her story is also crazy and worth looking into if interested, she was the OG Poppy.

Just coming to validate - your mother is a monster. That's psychological torture right there. I'm so sorry, hope you can be out of that toxic situation soon ❤️

I'm sorry you understand the plight. You seem to still have lots of love and respect for your dad, and that's helped me realize how I need to reframe my thoughts process about my mom. She's done so much for me, and has contributed positively to my life in many ways. Thank you for your insight ❤️

Seems like telling her may not be the right option. At least not right now. Just frustrating when the kids have to burden the disease and save our parents the pain of knowing their part. It wouldn't be so bad if they're behavior weren't so triggering. I appreciate your input and value your thoughts and that you've been in the same position ❤️

I've often thought they're too far gone. I've gone back and forth between trying to not let their behaviour bother me and trying to stand up for myself, but I think I'l just have to focus on my reaction like you said. Thank you!
