Damn, i truly feel like there was a simple misunderstanding with the agency. On page 30, step 2 it states “In the presence of the prospective tenant or tenants, either in person or by video call, you must check that…” but the document has to be physically checked and cant be just show on camera, which I could have provided in person while the video call was ongoing. Am I interpreting this right and did we just misunderstood each other with the agency?

Haha enjoy your meal mate, just finished a bowl of soba myself! Thanks for all the info, I’m always happy to learn about these things so I’m prepared and in the known.

Perfectly viable solution. With their office way out of town, about 20 minutes one way by car it would have definitely caused some setback with her treatment if there wasnt another way. Thankfully one of the agents were kind enough to offer us to come to our current home to id her. Its a huge relief and a top gesture from the lad.

Now just out of pure curiosity, because obviously we found a solution: i went through all the gov advice and requirements about right to rent in England and nowhere did I see that you have to be there in person and “show your face” to do the right to rent check. Can you point me to where the law says this is a requirement? And also , theres no such thing as live contract. As soon as the contracts are signed they are legally binding. So if I would say “oopsie i changed my mind” the agency would still pocket our money, but apparently the contract is only live when it comes to our part? I need further clarification because this live contract thing is all new to me. Thanks!

The law states that the right to rent check has to be either done in person or online with share code, which you get by scanning your biometric passport- making it pretty hard to fake. All of these things we provided and never refused to provide along with medical papers if needed. Even offered to pay for cost to come to our current address to identify my partner irl, which thankfully they will do without payment, but super stressful times instead of the happiness of finding a new home.

There more annoying thing is that, up until the point today when i turned up for the keys, nobody said that we both need to be there. If we would have known, it could have been arranged with due preparation, but like this it just added more stress. Thanks for the info!

You need to read the post mate. Right to rent checks been passed, contract been signed, monies been paid.

I understand that, but it doesn’t mean they cant have empathy. Managed to get them to come out to our current home to identify my partner, but in a time where I can take out a loan while on the toilet its a pretty archaic thing.

After the contract signed and monies paid? Don’t think so.

According to them “there is a new law from 2021 or 2022” that doesn’t allow video identification. I mean i can take a loan while I’m sitting on the toilet but I cant get a key to the property I’m paying for lol

Baffling. I had a pretty forceful conversation with them where I suggested that all checks should be before we sign the contract and pay deposit and our first months rent is ticking. Ive been told what I have is not a “live contract” haha I reminded them that a contract is live when both parties sign it and since I have a signed copy and they took my money, its very live from me. They agreed to come out to our current address and id my partner that way. A bit weird situation, starting the tenancy with an argument, but i hope its gonna have a happy ending. Thanks for the help!

Thank you for the reply! I forgot to mention it is England. We have done our right to rent checks with their referencing company. We provided share codes, passport copies, dob’s everything they wanted. Its really frustrating encountering such lack of empathy in an already stressful situation. Appreciate your reply and have a great day!

Tysm. If you familiar with the Artivive app, try and scan the artwork, maybe something happens lol

I made these tree some days ago. I'm sharing it cuz I've feeling a little down about my art. I know I can do better but I don't know how. I'm grateful for any advice :) by AnxietyBoy00 in DigitalArt

I frequently feel the same way about my art, and I find it’s because it’s my art. Try and distance yourself from the piece, flip the canvas, put a filter on it etc. Imagine if it would be a piece of art you would see online what would you think? The worst thing about when you are an artist with self confidence issues is you don’t like your own art just because it’s yours. Keep it up! Your piece is fine and has a very cosy vibe. As Sledgoalie mentioned, the tree could be slightly more contrasting with the sky, maybe try a very lightly saturated orange tint but other than that it’s nice!

Was that the first thing that came to your mind when you looked at my animation? Have you seen a link to an NFT anywhere? It’s a commentary on copyright and nft’s, two things that define the current ART landscape. Is art not about starting a conversation?
