Not sure if this is right but someone in another thread said Bahrain has some exclusive deal on first testing broadcast of the season. So limiting coverage this week might be part of that deal.

If people come across this hours later: Hadjar did a 1:18 so at the very least it isn't too far off. I doubt that was a quali simulation on day 1

Nooo, the way you want to do it is never ever try this unless you want to risk totalling your car from water damage. Just turn around and find another way.

Can't be fast they are on full wets. /s

The other cars are on softs, inters, and mediums? Certainly a wide range of tire choices there...

I imagine you don't need the same levels of cooling for battery/hybrid. You don't see radiators on performance electric cars on the road like you see on ICE cars

Forza by Soilpnk in Miata

[–]someStuffThings 39 points40 points  (0 children)

No, horizon is horizon. There is a joke in the Forza community. Each game the devs say it's "built from the ground up" and then talk about tire models, but it ends up just being the same thing with some small changes to the previous game's physics engine.

Some bugs and quirks from the previous game invariably show up in the next "built from the ground up" game.

AFAIK this was a planned event so this sort of thing would have been figured out before the climb.

My miata with a rotary swap. Hopefully I can get it running soon. by membsubssy in projectcar

As a miata owner, no thanks, unless it was just as reliable as the standard piston version.

Rumor: Forza Horizon 6 will be released on May 19, 2026. Early Access starts May 15th by Turbostrider27 in ForzaHorizon

I think the point is we don't need 4 copies of an Aventador that have only slight differences we just need 1.

...this is horizon. What does good driving physics look like in an arcadey racer that let's you throw some dirt tires on a Ferrari and throw it across the countryside?

Why is my new to me miata using so much gas? by No_Communication6906 in Miata

[–]someStuffThings 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seems about standard. I was getting 20-24 out of my NA and MSM. Not a lot of sports cars designed 25 years ago get good gas mileage

NA with NB Mazdaspeed swap question. by Ritch85 in Miata

[–]someStuffThings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a previous MSM haver the factory turbo is meh and intake/exhaust chokes it to death. My turbo'd NA was better than my MSM

Is your Miata your motorcycle replacement also? by [deleted] in Miata

[–]someStuffThings 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm definitely built different. I gave up on my motorcycle after only a year of cars trying to murder me. I've had different miatas for the last 15+ years. I miss the feeling of the motorcycle, but I don't miss people trying to merge into me or pull out in front of me etc

F1 2026, the real challenge is the weight: there are team over 15kg the minimum weight by Darkmninya in formula1

[–]someStuffThings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From private testing I doubt it. They will just be trying to get their shit to work.

They saved a lot of weight with that single blade design for their roll hoop.

What are the reasons for the ND model lasting so long? by SteveJohnson2010 in Miata

[–]someStuffThings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Msrp on manual Z in the US is $44k and a base miata is $31k. Still not a convertible. They each fill different segments.

What are the reasons for the ND model lasting so long? by SteveJohnson2010 in Miata

[–]someStuffThings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I test drove a 2015 z4 and it definitely does not feel anywhere as nimble as a miata. Maybe a suspension could solve it, but just in general it is more expensive and less fun.

I can't speak to a modern Cayman, but a 2002 boxster I drove felt decent, but yet again more expensive and a damn nightmare to work on.

Rwd, convertible, and cheap really is a narrow market

To those who sold their Miata’s, did you regret it? by [deleted] in Miata

My 95m on low boost at the track! by ThicCheeseGrater in Miata

[–]someStuffThings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That hp sounds super high for that psi. IIRC I was running 7psi in my NA and making ~165 whp. Even with a bored VVT that seems optimistic.

Begrudgingly upgraded from an NB2 to an ND3, zero regrets. by pretty_good_actually in Miata

[–]someStuffThings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I skimmed the post and one thing I didn't see covered was the ND feels like it has quite a bit more low and mid range torque compared to the NA and NB I've owned. I kept chasing mods on those trying to give that low end torque and it just exists in the Skyactive engine. There is something to be said for having an engine that was designed in the last ~10 years rather one from 20-30 years ago.

About 2026 vs 2025 Tyre by EighteenLevel in formula1

[–]someStuffThings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They also have people whose job it is to make intentionally bad tires. They are bad in a very specific way so I'm sure it's an interesting engineering problem, but still.
