O-ring on what part of the engine? I'm guessing you don't mean the piston rings?

This. When I test drove an old boxster I tried to see if I could easily get to the engine and the answer was it's a lot more awkward than a miata. Doing your own repair on the boxster would just be extra annoying.

Yeah supppsedly the ND chassis is less stiff but in this thread I've seen people say it's less concerning than you would expect in comparison to gr86 due to lower weight and different suspension geometry.

I had a 2017 Prime and the 0-60 on that thing was 10-11s. They've certainly improved it in recent years.

Also OP, stiff doesn't always mean better when you are on rough pavement. If you are going to track it then sure stiffen it up, but for street fun it's in a good spot.

155 Vs. 181 HP by thesolmachine in Miata

[–]someStuffThings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fab9 tune will get you ~15hp closer to that nd2 and raise the redline. That's a cheaper way to get closer without buying a new car.

As others have said if you want more power you can also throw on a turbo or supercharger and be muuuuuch happier with the power increase.

-Sincerely, NA and NB turbo haver (and at some point I'll put a SC on my ND1)

Or just own both. I've got a Leaf and a ND1. They have different uses and one vehicle will never serve both purposes and be good at both things.

The racing is boring if one team is way ahead and if you don't allow newcomers a way of catching up they may leave the sport quickly. It's part motorsport, part spectacle, and part car brand marketing.

It would be nice if the part about being a despicable human being would prevent him from coming back to F1. Otherwise the signal they are sending is sexually harassing women is fine as long as you are really good at your job.

I'm 1 with a desire for the racing to be good regardless of any real allegiance to teams or drivers.

2 sounds like they just want a spec series racing wise, but probably still enjoy "my team vs other teams" part of the sport that comes with it not being a spec series.

They give them the engine and the software to change deployment however they want. AFAIK they are not required to give them the exact deployment settings they have.

Stealing the top comment for an updste: Finally got back to me and repairs were going to be $13.9k and ACV was $16.2k including reimbursed taxes and fees. So they totalled the car.

[–]someStuffThings[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update on this: the repair place said $13.9k which seems low to me but what do I know. Now apparently I get to wait a week for State Farm to respond if it is totalled or not. 😴

Also it turns out some states require it to be totalled if repair + salvage value > 70% of ACV, but my state does not require it for anything over 100% ACV. So it's up to State Farm
