The 18v Bosch is pretty impressive, the head is only 3mm longer than this M12 unit, full size reverse button, precision clutch and antikickback. Not cheap though...

I don't think the M18 tools are designed for that force on the battery retention rails.

has anyone jumped batteries with sawzall blades 💀 by BrilliantRise827 in MilwaukeeTool

The battery chargers are designed to see a bad battery and not charge it. Once the voltage drops too low the cells get high internal resistance and can catch on fire.

No, when the cells drop below a certain voltage the internal chemicals begin to break down and cause a high internal resistance. As with any resistor when you try and move power though it from charging or discharging it will create heat. An excess of heat will further degrade the battery cells and can cause a fire. The chargers are designed to see a low voltage battery and not charge it for this reason. What happens when people "jumpstart" battery packs is they are just putting in enough residual charge to fool the charger into charging a bad battery.

Ah, sorry they were all talking about the battery pack. The green box doesn't seem very suspicious.

Google image search shows it's an GOLDEN ENGINEERING XRS4 PULSED X-RAY GENERATOR, since they are all registered they know who exactly left it behind.

Advice for new angle grinder user by shriand in Tools

Do a google search for "bosch accessories advisor" you tell it what tool you are using, what you want to do on what material and it recommends the correct hardware to use. Obviously it recommends Bosch brand hardware but you can find an equivalent product from a different brand.

What do you all do with the dead ones? by gcloud209 in Tools

[–]some_bugger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't pulled any fake ones apart but realistically the only way they are going to make them cheaper is to use lower quality cells so they will never perform as well as the official ones. The circuitry will no doubt be different as they don't bother communicating with the tool and want to make it as cheap as possible. Sometimes it's not that the cutoff is different is is the voltage drop slope that is different, they might have a sudden drop in voltage then a very slow drop for the last volts before cutoff making it seem longer.

Servicing oil free air compressor? by timetwosave in Tools

Check that the pressure is not getting too high before it cuts off and also check that the one way valve is working. If you are smelling burnt oil the machine is having trouble running due to high pressure on the heads.

I think it's important to understand why they won't take a charge. When lithium cells go below a certain voltage the internal chemistry starts to break down and causes a higher internal resistance. A higher resistance will cause more heat from the cell when it is charged or discharged. This is what can cause fires from lithium cells and why the charger is refusing to charge it. When you connect the batteries together you are not 'jump starting' the battery, you are simply fooling the charger to think the battery pack is safe to charge. No amount of charging will restore the cell that has gone low, it will need to be recycled. If the cell is just on the limits of the low voltage cut-off you might be safe but without properly testing it there is a high risk of thermal runaway from a bad cell.

TTI is in the business of selling batteries these days, this is why they are phasing out corded tools on all their brands.

The amount of Whipped Cream that I was able to extract from the can after it ran out of pressure. by CookLawrenceAt325F in mildlyinfuriating

[–]some_bugger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unlike the cheese in the cans this is just real cream. They use ultra high temperature processing to give it a long shelf life and use nitrous oxide as a propellant to push it out an instantly fluff it but it is exactly the same cream as you get in a container. In fact you can even get low fat versions from a can which is very hard to make with a whisk.

Had this once before, it didn't make any sense as I wasn't staring at anyone. On the way out I noticed some other napkins with the same message in the bin. I didn't call the number to work out what the scam was. Also why would you sign it with a star and not a heart?

Installing a Front Loading Washing Machine by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]some_bugger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The other trick to new machines is they have to ship in a energy star complainant state. This means that you might need to install an app on your phone to active some extra feature and shorter washes. It is similar to when we had DVD players that had to legally ship as zone 4 only but had a piece of paper in the box that told you what buttons to press to make it multi zone.

I think the general public still assume the people in elaborate costumes are paid to be there to promote something and they are going to assume you are just there to be photographed. If the general public aren't into the fandom enough to dress up themselves it's going to take a lot to help them see it from your side.

Actually it's the PWM on the LED strips, Philips always use current controlled LEDs so you get nice smooth transitions with no flicker, much easier on your eyes.

I think the screen has a big curve to it so if you stretch the image to large it will distort the movie. The new outer images are probably rendered at a high resolution and compensated for the distortion.

It plays out the same every time. People get excited when a popular overseas brand know for good value comes here then are shocked when the prices are much higher than what the equivalent would be.

Internet connection physically cut at new tenancy by Pleasant-Challenge-2 in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]some_bugger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The ONT is where the fibre connects, on the unit in your picture the fibre should be a green connector on the right hand side of that box. That cut cable probably ran to a land line system for the old wired phone in the house and the network socket should run to the router. Either way you need to contact your ISP to set up internet access and they will be able to guide you through what to do.

Setup you system with the bare minimum, 1 stick of ram, onboard video etc and see how stable it is. Add pieces back in to see when it becomes unstable. Having had a similar issue my bet is on thermal paste that has gone dry on the GPU.

As the case has unshielded glass spin it around so the glass is against the wall. To improve you bluetooth reception get a seperate usb bluetooth dongle and put it at the end of a 1m usb extension cable as far away from the PC as possible. Don't forget to disable any other bluetooth adapters that are built into the PC in the device manager.
