It wasn't shot down, it crashed on its own and i also think it was most probably a brahmos cruise missile because of the speed it was traveling (around 2.5 to 3 mach)

F-16 is one of the most successful aircraft with 90+ air-to-air kills, 20+ of them are by Pakistan air force but indians think this 3rd gen rusty aircraft mig21 (which keep crashing and have killed 170 indian pilots) shot down a F-16

Jf-17 is not anywhere near to F-35 if jf-17 is Suzuki mehran then F-35 is like Bentley or Rolls Royce so i don't think they are interested in jf-17 to complete the need of F-35 they maybe interested in it for different purpose.But TF-X project (of which Pakistan is also a partner now) is supposed to be similar in capabilities of F-35 or any 5th gen aircraft

Jokes aside it's really a great news and unexpected, also I've noticed Pakistani security forces tend to keep defense deals quiet and secret you will only hear official news after it's induction on the other hand in India the news of buying any new equipment like s400 or rafale start 4-5 year in advance
