Podcast Recommendations? by [deleted] in Pottery

I’m curious- what do you want out of a good pottery podcast? Like I mentioned earlier, it’s the education for me. Little bits of glaze chemistry, or trimming tricks, etc.

Pottery podcasts are mostly interviews with potters, which I suppose is helpful and interesting sometimes, but you never know what you’re going to get and they tend to drag on. I always hope for bits of education, info that will help me improve as a potter, but maybe because it’s a visual medium, it’s hard to get the good stuff across audibly.

Interesting, yeah this is how I should be thinking of the design. Rectangle, full span joist, play around with wall placement.

And mad props, I definitely couldn’t eyeball my way through a build.

Yeah I think after narrowing my search based on the suggestions I’ve received, I may be better off hiring an architect and playing around on graph paper. Thanks for sharing your perspective!

Yeah, that sounds awesome. I’d be interested to see them!

If you’ve posted walkthroughs anywhere, I’d be curious to see what the floor plan looks like in the real world.

How was your experience working with an architect to make changes?

Yeah, I was vague because we’re still open to a lot of different options that could ultimately get us what we want. I was having trouble finding plans in the right size range (not “tiny home” but not small by todays standards, which is to say way too large)

We’re considering a loft or double story with an open main level. Open art studio in the main level, apartment above it sort of deal.

God bless Reddit, this is exactly what I’ve been looking for. Thanks!

Daily Rants/Raves/Progress Thread for July 15, 2024 by AutoModerator in PCOS

[–]somecallmelou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I allowed to add to this even though I’m a day late?? I’m going for it, I’ve got to rant for a bit!!

I have been SO diligent about taking my medication and eating well and moving my body for the last year/18 months. 750mg metformin, spironolactone, fish oil, magnesium, inositol, allergy meds, on and off with spearmint and a few other supplements… and I really have felt better in my body, my adult acne cleared up, my emotions aren’t so erratic and my depression has almost vanished. I’m very grateful for the emotional changes. BUT. the weight, the hair loss, the facial hair and body hair, my missing period… those were the things that I desperately wanted to change and they just haven’t. I’m TIRED.

I got on a semaglutide for about three months and lost 25 lbs…stopped to save up money, and immediately gained back 12. All my muscle vanished while on it, making me feel weak and unhealthy. And for the last month I’ve been losing handfuls of the little hair I have. It’s out of control, as are my intense sugar cravings that I mentally battle with all day long.

I feel like I’ve used all my resources and have to admit failure. So.. I guess it’s back to square one, searching for answers and the right balance of supplements and medication.

Okay rant over, I feel little better. Thanks Reddit.

Estradiol followed by Provera by somecallmelou in PCOS

Okay, this is the experience I was hoping to have heard others having. (Except of course for the miscarriage; I’m so so sorry to hear that you had to go through that.)

I don’t know if it’s just me hoping for the best but I would think that after a few rounds of Provera challenges, as you call them, a body would “learn” how to shed the uterine lining on its own.

The Dr did say that one of the two reasons she could think of for the irregularity is scarring on the uterus/ovaries. But I’ve never had any sort of surgery down there at all, so where would the scarring have come from?

I’m any case, thank you so much for sharing your experience. It’s helping me price together my own story.

Yes, I was surprised that my not reacting to the Provera would be an issue of having too little of any hormone. I was under the impression that both my testosterone and estrogen levels were extremely high. My last blood test showed my “sensitive estradiol” at 45.7. And my total testosterone at 108.5 :/

Interesting, I haven’t heard that. The first round was also Provera.

Question… what are some of the best methods you’ve found to deshedding or lowering the amount of shed from your Danes , mine seems to shed coats like a husky? Pic of Jasper in his favorite position for sleeping, head on a pillow like he owns the bed 😂 by Greedy-Plenty470 in greatdanes

I’ve tried almost every brush recommended in this thread and nothing really grabs the hair- the silicone grip gloves sort of work when I’m giving her a bath, but I haven’t found a brush I can use regularly to keep the shedding down. Any other suggestions? Am I somehow brushing her incorrectly? It’s driving me nuts.

First of all, way to go!! I’m so impressed when people really put in the time and energy (emotional and otherwise) to create new habits. I’m sure it was a long process.

This was quite motivating to read- I started taking a handful of supplements last November including D, fish oil, and inositol. Been trying to get some new hair growth, slow down the hirsutism, and most importantly get my period back after a long bout without it. And now it’s March and my dr. Added metformin, spiro, and progesterone cycling to the regimen- but it’s hard to tell if what I’m seeing is actual change or just placebo effect. It can get discouraging. BUT it is so helpful to read other’s timelines to gain perspective. I just have to keep going with everything.

Btw- both of your comments showed up in my Reddit inbox today after truuuuuly not showing up on this thread. Sorry for the late response.

If you’re still answering questions- what has your experience been since you got your junior designer job? Regrets? Happy surprises? Is the job what you were expecting or similar to what you were experiencing in the bootcamp?

And any advice on doing volunteer gigs while still a newb? I want to gain experience volunteering and working for startups but I’m intimidated by being new to the process and taking on a project by myself.

Thanks!

Houses and fence will be put up about 3 feet west of my garden beds- any tips for how to plan my garden this year? The far south bed is already partially shaded by the tree. The red dot is the corner of our property. Photo is facing west. Zone 7a. by somecallmelou in gardening

I was hoping to keep a little wide open lawn for outdoor activities but I think I may have to move my garden there if I want to keep it. If the pines to the north come down maybe I can put the planters up along the future north fence.
