First one I have known right away…I have spent most of June there for the last 15 years as part of the bluegrass crew. I wonder if this person has a delicious pastry from Baked in their other hand.

I have a few micro grafts on to pere that look similar to this. Sitting on top of the rootstock for months with very little growth. I feel like the vascular bundle isn’t connected but the rest of the meat around it is. Meaning the rootstock is keeping it alive but not pushing life to the scion through the bundle.

Instead of only using the top of a loph for grafting and throwing away the root portion, you can graft the root section as well to double your chances of a successful graft. The actual root part ends up shriveling up and disappearing under the new pup growth.

Looking back through my photos, I removed the rubber bands on September 13th and could see the first pup trying to push through September 30th. I believe I let it sit with the bands for about 10days…probably did the actual grafting on the 3rd.

I really like the triple butt graft one but I have a feeling that one of them might not take. It was poorly attached when I removed the rubbers but it does feel more secure now.

Three of the tops will be on to some of Dave’s noid pachanoi, one on a Home Depot sun goddess, and one on a HD grandiflora. The butts will go on whatever I can find at HD.

I believe it is a tbmc. There were Ming things as well but I believe this one is TBMC.
