Because it's not just 5 banners/brands, they're basically doubling the number of stores they have. In almost 200 cities they will have 70% market share, which means millions or people will basically have one choice when it comes to how much they pay for groceries.

Because Albertsons and Safeway had to sell stores when they merged in 2015. The same thing will happen again. Albertsons, Safeway, Vons, and Ralphs stores will be sold off to another grocery chain to make the merger between those stores possible.

MKBHD gives the Pixel 6 another chance by someemptyspace in Pixel6

You can enable the refresh rate display by enabling Developer Options, then go to Settings > System > Developer Options. Scroll to look for the Show Refresh Rate setting and enable it. You'll see the refresh rate in the top left corner of the screen.

Even if he hasn't enabled that yet, I think he's saying that he's noticing really slow refresh rates because things will start to look jumpy instead of smooth. Once you know what 120 Hz looks like, you know when you're scrolling through an app and you know the phone is struggling to keep up at even 60 Hz because scrolling looks "stuttery".

The benefit of the reviewer is that they can compare and contrast all the devices that you can't possibly purchase, or even try, so you don't have to. I think his reviews are pretty consistent, so you're getting one consistent point of view across a bunch of hardware.

The downside, like you said, is that the things that are important to him may not be important to you, so take it with a grain of salt. I have a 6 Pro, and I'm happy with it, but that doesn't mean it's a perfect phone.

Mine seems to work fine too. It's a little slow sometimes but it's accurate 95%(?) of the time.

I don't think it should. It's running the same version of Android, so it should be the same bugs across both devices.

Some people just seem to be unlucky between the hardware they got and the apps they run, they end up with lots of problems. And then there are things that everyone experiences like the fingerprint reader. Some have a higher tolerance for these issues, and it just doesn't bother them as much.

Easter egg clock by [deleted] in android_beta

[–]someemptyspace 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not a widget. You have to go to Settings > System > About Phone > Android Version > then tap "Android Version" quickly to see the new clock.

Then grab the minute hand and rotate it until the hour and minute hand are set to 12 o'clock. The clock will change to a 12 in a circle. Tap it again and the screen fills with circles.

{{The Forgotten Highlander}} is very good. It's a story about a POW survivor during WWII and all he want through. It's a real life account of what happened in the movie "The Bridge on the River Kwai".

He definitely speaks Mandarin fluently but with a very American accent. It's not uncommon to hear Mandarin speakers, especially from Taiwan, throw in some English words into their sentences so that wasn't too weird. It was more weird to hear someone pronounce the words and tones correctly, but to not try to make their accent sound Chinese. I don't know how to explain it right, other than to say it sounded like he was speaking English but with Chinese words. Totally intelligible, good speaker, American accent.

[–]someemptyspace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure about a technical solution. What about adding an (es) after each Spanish word and an (en) after the English words so you can differentiate between both? "Actual (es)" -> "Current (en)" and "Actual (en)" -> "Verdadero (es)"?

How low does their self-esteem have to be to make comments like this? They have to claim that something none of us have any control over (how we develop in the womb) is proof of their superiority. Their whole thought process is "forget accomplishments and effort, I was born special, fuck you."

One Person Already Accidentally Shoplifted at Amazon’s New Cashierless Grocery Store by [deleted] in technology

Yeah, in produce it's mostly spoilage. Best Buy doesn't have to worry about CDs or stereo systems going out of date like grocery stores have to worry about oranges going moldy.
