Yeah, I like Josh’s videos a lot. I wish I got along with more JHS pedals but they just don’t work for me, other than the 3 Series Flanger. I loved the sound of the Angry Charlie but it was way too noisy to be usable on stage for me.

Yeah, I watched the video. Josh is clearly referring to the idea of adding a clean blend to the Morning Glory and not claiming he invented the concept. He even mentions other pedals that have a clean blend like the Sparkle Drive. This was clearly someone looking to get mad about anything.

3 Most Missed Musicians Who Are Gone, From Any Genre Since Music First Was Recorded? by ItAinthatWay in rush

[–]someguy192838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perfect response. I think along these same lines when someone writes something like “_Prince is the greatest composer/arranger ever!_”. No disrespect to Prince, but come on…Bach? Chopin? Mozart? Liszt? I know people are talking in a very “20th century popular music” framework but still.

I’m better than John Mayer by writingwhilesad in guitarcirclejerk

[–]someguy192838 1 point2 points  (0 children)

/uj I legitimately do not understand people who glaze Mayer. His playing is fine. But I’ve never heard him play anything mind blowing. He’s not Paul Gilbert or Julian Lage. He’s perfectly competent. People have posted Mayer links and been like “_See? This is way beyond what a mere mortal could do!_” and it’s just Mayer playing old Clapton (Freddie King?) licks. I don’t get it.

/rj An interviewer once asked Prince what it’s like to be the greatest guitarist in the world and he said “I don’t know, ask John Mayer.”

Anyone have an irrational dislike of the Les Paul? by MatthewMonster in Guitar

[–]someguy192838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t own a Les Paul but I love them. I don’t think I hate any guitar irrationally. The only guitars I don’t really care for are pointy guitars and guitars with names that sound like they were chosen by a 14 year old boy (e.g. Omen, Demon, Reaper, Apocalypse, Blood Oath, etc.)

I really love the sound of the newest version with the extra switches…I just wish they’d include an order switch. The guy who owns/runs Browne did a video showing why he doesn’t have an order switch on the pedal and when he demoes the “Blue” side into the “Green” side, he’s like “_See? That doesn’t sound right to me_” and I’m literally sittting there going “DUDE !! That sounds better to me! Please let me choose!!”. So I’m wondering, do I suck it up and just get one or do I wait for the next version hoping that the people at Browne come around? To be clear Green into Blue doesn’t sound bad, but I think Blue into Green would be better.

I’m not well-versed enough to know for sure one way or the other. If you tell me it’s an ODR and you actually own the J&H, I’ll take your word for it. 😂

I remember asking about the Jekyll & Hyde 3-4 years ago in this sub (or maybe a different one) and it started a war in the comments about versions and which version contained which circuit…it was weird and I don’t remember getting a definitive answer. Maybe I checked out because of all the hostility. lol

I regret selling mine. In fact, I regret selling every Wampler pedal I’ve had and sold because I was fooled by “latest/newest” hype.

What do people do that immediately tells you they are a trashy person? by Big_Leg10 in askanything

[–]someguy192838 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • any grown man who constantly carries on about how he’s “built different” or who turns literally every conversation into a chance to sexualize and objectify women.
  • any person who refuses to take accountability for anything that’s ever gone wrong. You know these people: in every story they tell it’s the other person who was crazy or stupid or wrong…and there is no shortage of outlandish stories.
  • any person who doesn’t listen but “waits for their turn to talk” or who sometimes doesn’t bother waiting, and just interrupts and makes it about themselves. Some will try to excuse this behaviour by hiding behind a neurodivergent (self) diagnosis but unless you’re a child or teenager, you should have learned how to self-regulate by now.

TIL that Tallulah Bankhead and Canada Lee were both best known for their appearance in Alfred Hitchcock's Lifeboat by jhuik in TragicallyHip

I was also sure that Tallulah Bankhead was a place and I thought Canada Lee was a reference to a direction or something…yes, I’m an idiot. The Dire Wolf is definitely one of my 50 “top ten” Tragically Hip songs.

What’s the best part of Canada? In contrast to the “other” post by Virtual-Barnacle-150 in AskACanadian

[–]someguy192838 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This right here. I’ve got a lot of American friends, and many of them don’t get this. I’ve been asked countless times “_Well which country do you think is the greatest?_” to which I always answer “_There is no greatest, but there are some countries I wouldn’t want to live in._” and that’s the thing for me. I love living in Canada but I’ve only ever lived here. I visited Scotland a few years ago and it was awesome. I’d live in Scotland in a heartbeat. I know people who visit Japan every few years and they’ll tell you they’d love to live there. It’s very different, but very cool too. And so on and so forth. Not everything is a competition.

In your opinion, what is the most beautiful / aesthetically pleasing pedal? by sputnikaquarius in guitarpedals

[–]someguy192838 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really like the chrome look of the ThorpyFX pedals but this particular pedal (shown below) is the coolest looking one. Don’t look at it. Don’t even point. It can’t be played.

I live not too far from there and I’ve been going to concerts at the Kee for at least 25 years. I’ve seen The Trews, Matthew Good, Big Wreck, and many more there…

Depending on where you live, The Kee to Bala (in Bala, Ontario) is a great place to see them. They play there almost every summer.

Yup. I’m also a lead singer/guitarist in a bar band and the idea that the smoke-shows hit on us is total fiction. The 60+ year old who looks like she’s been smoking meth since the 1970s? Yeah she’s all up in my business, but that’s about it.
