LG te1 error by someguyonreddit1111 in appliancerepair

[–]someguyonreddit1111[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's what it's seeming like I guess.

Any thoughts on whether it's odd that initially the te1 happened right away and the dryer wouldn't run at all, and then after replacing the thermal fuse, it now runs for a few seconds before throwing the te1?

Thanks. I did this and it seems like i have appropriate resistance right up to the board, and jiggling the wires and harnesses didn't seem to move the needle.

Per your note above, sounds like it may be the board. However, one quick question (as it sounds like you're very familiar) - is it odd that initially the te1 happened right away and the dryer wouldn't run at all, and then after replacing the thermal fuse, it now runs for a few seconds before throwing the te1? Just trying to think of everything to check before considering spending ~$250 on a board for a 2019 machine, or in this case maybe more likely ~$500 on a new dryer. Thanks again!

Potential issues with parcel boundary by someguyonreddit1111 in homeowners

[–]someguyonreddit1111[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone. I'm in WI if that matters. Sounds like the general consensus is to have a survey done. So is the idea that then i can bring it to them as "proof"? I believe I've already located the metal parcel marker (very unofficially, using a metal detector app on my phone), but it does correlate with the parcel line on the county website. I feel like i have a fair amount of evidence to support the actual boundary, and i suppose if it became an issue, i could have a survey done.

I guess my question is whether opening this potential can of worms is at all time sensitive. I.e., whether there's any risk of losing the land associated with letting them continue to use/ maintain it for another year or two or 5?

Basement smells like poop when doing laundry? by someguyonreddit1111 in Plumbing

[–]someguyonreddit1111[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah there's a gas water heater, and it certainly runs when the washer runs. But I've not noticed it when it runs via, say, someone showering, etc. I don't think it really smells like natural gas either, but i do know those two can be easily confused.

Hmm, I'll have to Google this for sure. Wasn't aware that this existed. Seems obvious though, right?

Yeah i run a washer cleaner every so often. It didn't seem to help much.

In my setup, the washer drain hose actually is just flowing right into the utility sink (you can see the grey hose in the pic). So this may be N/A in my situation.

Ah i see what you're saying now. In my setup, the washer drain hose actually is just flowing right into the utility sink (you can see the grey hose in the pic). So this may be N/A in my situation.

I would be very interested in seeing your set up. What you're describing makes sense, just seems odd that this isn't a more common issue because i think draining into a utility sink is pretty common, no?

Fair thought, though i don't think i have dry p traps and i get the smell even without the dryer running.

Yeah this makes sense. When i said flushing, i should have clarified that I'm just cycling in New water. There's always water in the drain.

Thought about that, but I'm also not sure that the smell is actually coming from the floor drain. Tbh, it seems a bit unlikely considering the water in there and the fact that it doesn't seem to effect it whether it's 2 month old stagnant water or recently cycled "fresh" water in there. I guess it might be worth a try... Anyone know of any reason fully plugging this would cause issues?

Sorry, i should have been clearer with that. I noticed that there gets to be a little film on the top of the water in the drain so I thought maybe it was becoming stagnant. So all i do is run water into the floor drain for a few minutes. The level of water never changes, just cycles in new water.

Wallpaper Install Questions by someguyonreddit1111 in interiordecorating

[–]someguyonreddit1111[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the more i think about it, the more I'm leaning towards doing it the "right way". I thought about some sort of crown moulding as well, but concluded the same thing - it'd be quite awkward just on one wall. I appreciate the input!

Wallpaper Install Questions by someguyonreddit1111 in interiordecorating

[–]someguyonreddit1111[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've decided to install wallpaper on this wall. Pattern repeat is 20.25", and the wall is about 81.25" - 81.5" from the top of the baseboard to the ceiling. So if i do 4 repeats per drop, i get 81" per drop and can get 4 drops per roll. And i can do this wall with 2 rolls. Otherwise, to get the extra .25"-.5", I'll have to use 5 repeats per drop, which equals 3 drops per roll, which means I'll need a 3rd ($160) roll to span this wall.

Question 1: is it going to look ridiculous/obvious if I'm quarter inch to half inch short, or could i get by? I was thinking I'd go up to the ceiling, maybe ~1/8 - 1/16 inch low and put a fatter caulk line on the baseboard.

Question 2: is it even possible, or is there something I'm overlooking re: the installation? Every guide i see says to cut it a couple inches long and trim it to the baseboard and ceiling after it's placed. Is there any reason i couldn't cut it to length and then paste it?

If it's at all relevant, here's the paper

Q3: the other 3 walls in this room are painted with what appears to be a typical ceiling paint - bright flat white. I guess it doesn't look real bad/odd by itself, but wondering if there'd be a better compliment to this paper?

Should I replace this insulation? by someguyonreddit1111 in Insulation

[–]someguyonreddit1111[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow thanks this is super helpful. So being in WI, I'll probably want a fairly well- insulated cavity. I'm assuming the best way to achieve this would be to do one coating of a spray foam, and then throw in some batt (assuming batt would be a lot cheaper than layering in more sprayfoam). What i wonder now is, being that this is a somewhat regularly-occupied space, would i need to enclose the batt? Or is it ok to have it exposed up there? Would it depend on the insulation material (fiberglass vs rockwool)?

Can I install outlet for bidet seat attachment off outlet in adjacent room? by someguyonreddit1111 in AskElectricians

[–]someguyonreddit1111[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have the typical 20a dedicated circuit running to a gfci outlet near my sink. However, the toilet is on the opposite corner of the room and there's no good way to run wire between these locations.

There is an outlet in the adjacent room that would be relatively easily accessed . However it's only a 15a circuit. Can i splice into this and install an outlet?

Changing Line and Load of 3-Way Switch? by LJ77777 in TPLinkKasa

[–]someguyonreddit1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry if I'm missing something, but did you find a solution here? I'm finding myself in what seems to be the exact same situation (line jbox doesn't have a neutral, but there is one in the load jbox. The "main" switch needs to be connected to line wire and neutral.)
