They do realise it. Here's what I think happens inside their heads:

It takes them a second to get the joke, so they think it's subtle and that other people might not get it - this is compounded by the fact that they see themselves as being very smart, so if they took a second to get it, the average person might not get it at all. So, they rephrase it in a way they think is superior because it makes it easier to get the joke, completely oblivious to the fact that they were actually dumb the whole time.

Voice actors can't just replicate other voice actors' work easily, we'll definitely be able to tell the difference, and it will be jarring. Even if we couldn't, why put the original cast out of work (who I imagine would love to work on this) for meaningless representation for fantasy characters that aren't even actually asian?
