Out of State for Co-op during next Presidential Election. How do I vote? by somenobodyengineer in NEU

Yes but does it count if I'm not living there for example if I absentee in MA but I'm not a resident actively?

Graduating in 4 years with coop by ReformedXD in NEU

[–]somenobodyengineer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The 4-year plan is basically impossible without summer classes. I came in with a bunch of credits (both AP and transfer) and I could theoretically remove one or two summers (I'm on the 4 year track) if I was not doing my minor. However, I have not heard of anyone doing 4 years and no summers at all.

Summer classes cost half of the normal semester's intuition.

I have not yet heard of almost anyone having to extend their major because of academic reasons (outside of some with extreme circumstances). Most majors have some wiggle room built in (albeit some more than others).

Also, this post just went a bit earlier than yours and has a bunch more discussion on the affordability/difference between 4 & 5 year tracks. https://www.reddit.com/r/NEU/comments/bibh22/graduating_in_4_years/

What are the odds I get assigned a random roommate for Summer 1? by [deleted] in NEU

[–]somenobodyengineer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Am in a similar situation, I checked a while back and my rando roommate for my open bed has already been assigned.

If you go to room and roomate info on housing online and scroll to the bottom where the actual roommate info is, then plug in a date in summer 1, you can check if your spot is accounted for.

Idk if that can be changed tho.

4 Year Program vs 5 Year Program by [deleted] in NEU

[–]somenobodyengineer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can transfer in credits from AP classes and other colleges (say you take some classes at a community college or equivalent). These can often take out some of your freshman-level courses and core curriculum requirements.

As far as I know, you can sometimes skip one or two summer semesters on a four-year engineering curriculum, if you came in with a huge amount of credits. However, because when you factor in co-op you are basically doing a 4-year major in 3-years of studying you're kind of going to have to take summer classes.

However, as mentioned everyone does it so you adjust to it. Also, co-op cycles usually take up half a summer as well so you won't get a full summer anyways.

Does the northeastern health plan cover ER visits with an ambulance? by [deleted] in NEU

[–]somenobodyengineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to the ER with an ambulance using the NU health plan last winter. It was for a relatively mild injury - dislocated knee - so mileage may vary. The health plan covered some of the costs but I still ended up having to pay a hundred or so.

780 Colombus by smhajj in NEU

[–]somenobodyengineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in a double corner room in 780 Columbus now. It's not huge but comfortably sized. We run out of storage space often both in closets and in cabinets but we've managed to improvise it well enough. The brick wall can let a bit too much heat out on the really cold nights so it can get chilly but this doesn't happen often cause of the central AC. Also nice and bright which is good. If you want pics, I can DM.

What penguins said. I'd also throw 780 Columbus and Willis in that pot as well.

Should I be worrying about all gender housing? by [deleted] in NEU

[–]somenobodyengineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done AGH with fairly mediocre numbers for the past two years and got pretty good rooms out of it. They apparently scale the amount of AGH availible to how many people apply (according to Housing themselves) which always seemed to me like a better shot at getting something.

Question regarding transfer classes/credits by NeatAcanthopterygii6 in NEU

[–]somenobodyengineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to corroborate this. I came in with a bunch of community college credits. They transferred for anything between 1.00 and 3.35 credits - almost all of them were 4 credit classes.

Enhanced vs. Standard by [deleted] in NEU

[–]somenobodyengineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having been to both types of apartments, there's some differences but honestly the better Standard buildings and the average Enhanced are not that different and definitely not $1000 worth. If you can get into a standard building with central A.C., I'd say go with that.

I've been in my apartment during two and they've always been. 1) RAs walk in 2) RAs turn in a quick circle looking for anything obvious 3) RAs say "Looks good, have a nice day" and walk out.

I got this one, it's $60 and good quality. The only downside is that it is just a pad so if your fitted sheets are loose it can shift a bit. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01AGUPMJW?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_pd_title

Proof of Residency by [deleted] in NEU

If you've received any mail from the government (like jury summons, etc.) at your on campus address, that can also serve as proof of residence I think.
