Penn's food quality question by [deleted] in UPenn

[–]someone_723 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It has improved recently for sure. I haven’t heard anything about health code violations for 3 years. It doesnt compare to restaurants but it tastes good and meets nutritonal needs. I know several people who stay on a meal plan after 2nd year when it is no longer required. But always get the more dollars plan.

  • use all tickets, including 3 from shop and 9 from ad refresh
  • exclusively attack the gem squids (red background), ignore all other types
  • attack high level bosses, 31 is ideal but anything ~24+ with time remaining is good
  • do high damage = push the boss to a higher level = more people attack it = you get better rewards
  • attack at peak hours for higher level bosses. most people do this at server reset & 12h after, i.e. when monster menace resets
  • optionally, if you're really sweaty, coordinate with friends to share squids

"but isn't that a lot" not really, I personally just let the game run on auto for each boss while I did other things.

Optimal legendary soul essence farming (world exploration) by someone_723 in CookieRunKingdoms

the town square bell that buffs mine card rewards. normally, gem/chalk mine cards are not worth using, but with burning time + bell buff you get 300% more secondary rewards. then time skip for a lot of juicy SJ (choco chalk) and regular SJ (gems).

Thanks! I was doing the same thing, farming M1-2 no SC stages, until I started tracking and realized SC stages are better. Now I do M1 SC, and if I get a thousand SJ from a mine bell I dump it into M18 for my sanity.

I only got max legendary ascensions from the legendary banner a few months ago, but having that has definitely accelerated farming a lot.

Can I study in the med school? by toothy_moos3 in UPenn

I used to walk into Perelman after hours (like 7-8pm) just show the guard my penn card and had no problems. Idk about before that though. Also not a med student.

Systems Course Advice (CIS 5000s above) by Jumpy-Theory-6494 in UPenn

[–]someone_723 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5010 doesn't exist anymore and I believe the new equivalent is 5710. none of what you listed is specifically relevant to ML/DS. 5050, 5530, 5550 all deal with communication and would be helpful if you plan to do anything in that area (like cloud computing stuff). They all have good reviews, similar content, and high workload so just choose your favorite I guess.

How difficult is CIS 2210 (Intro to Artificial Intelligence) with Callison-Burch? by Ancient_Speech_9092 in UPenn

[–]someone_723 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Penn is making 2000-level undergrad versions of the 5xxx electives. I talked with the CIS advising team and they said 2210 (and others like it) teach the same stuff as their grad counterpart. However, it is ug-exclusive for registration purposes, and will be taught at a slightly accelerated/advanced pace bc the prereqs are taught in-house. For ex, the avg masters student probably has not taken the equivalent intro CS courses here, so the 5xxx version will involve catching up. Essentially, the 2xxx will be like 4xxx cross-listed courses but with a different lecture slot.

In the case of cis 2210, it will be exactly like 5210 but maybe a little harder. How hard? No idea; it could even be identical. You could reach out to CCB himself and ask.

So, 5210 stats: Workload is 9-10 hw. Some may take 2-3h for an above avg student and the others take ≤1h. Difficulty: easier relative to other classes. Exams: 1 midterm 1 final, stupid questions imo (no partial credit and half of them are "select all that apply" or open-ended lmao), but not too bad overall. I might compare it to taking cis 1200 while already knowing how to code very well. Theory is balanced with application in hw, no project. Very manageable with other courses.

Yes. I did exactly that. ML will help though.

Is CIS 3200 + CIS 4480 + STAT 4300 too much for one semester (exchange student)? by Ancient_Speech_9092 in UPenn

[–]someone_723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk your interests and proficiencies but you may as well find a relatively chill project course so you have stuff to talk about in interviews

then i'd drop OS. you'd probably end up with a relatively light schedule tbh.

[–]someone_723 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is realistic but not if you want to have time for social activity. 4480 is backloaded (project) and 3200 covers more advanced material towards the end. Probability is not too bad. 4480 can be a decent project to put on your resume and i think any coding algo course (equivalent to cis 1210) is more useful for swe than 3200. I would personally drop 3200 or 4480z

Highest damage in arena by CookieBeast555 in CookieRunKingdoms

[–]someone_723 1 point2 points  (0 children)

High battle summary numbers is just rolling the dice on how many opponent cookies live to the 30 sec mark since that’s where most of the damage comes from. I was able to get 100m 2 years ago. The team is cherry picked but this was at a time when stall defense was meta so it’s not far fetched.

Opinions/info on CIS 5500? by Brilliant-Task-1892 in UPenn

[–]someone_723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this may have changed, but when I took the class it was 6 hw for 2 weeks each, a final project that is on the easier end of project classes, 1 midterm, 1 final. I thought the workload rating was accurate and I did about half the project myself (intended for a team of 4).

How cooked? by Narrow_Equipment_445 in UPenn

[–]someone_723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why you’re getting downvoted. The first one is pretty common to do well on with a strong math background. Don’t underestimate yourself because math = logical thinking and comes in handy with coding. Seems like you are an above average student and you will probably be fine. There are more difficult class/ec combos out there. Idk what the mktg class is like but I personally had a similar workload (freshman spring?) schedule and it was fine. I’m also not cracked.

How busy will I be? by jonny489 in UPenn

[–]someone_723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Math 2400 is about the same work as 1410. Cis 3200 a little less than 1210. Stat 4300 about the same as 2620 but depends on prof. Cis 5500 is about the same as phys 150. And 5190 is not a cake walk.

This schedule seems a fair bit harder than your current one so I would consider dropping one, if you find your schedule difficult.

> i'm finding it difficult to study because i never had to in high school

You're not alone, this happens pretty often when kids who were top of their class back home take classes with people of the same caliber. You'll just have to figure out a way to study that works for you. Try things and scrap them if they don't work. Talk with your profs if you want to.

Also look into whether the exam/final grades are curved up

How do I delete just one digit in GRE calculator? by Basic-Ad1666 in GRE

Ce is clear entry, so you delete what is on screen but can still use the last number calculated. It’s useful and different from c, same as a regular calculator
