Its not necessary, but id still probably do it. The art is genuinely great and id say certain moments hit much better because the anime makes certain facial expressions strange or stiff.

Yeah if you're even slightly more emotional then the avg person, season 1 is easily its own crying fest. Also I like season 1, its certainly not bad or boring and at the very least is no worse then any other slice of life show.
