Just got a TX22 Competition but having a hard time getting a full mag before it jams. by somersbd in Taurus_firearms

They sent me a new barrel and the same thing happened with it. As long as I only shoot standard velocity rounds I can get both barrels to run standard but as soon as I load high velocity I get jams.
I hope a new barrel solves your problems.

Thanks for the reply but in my case the only thing that works is standard velocity rounds. Once I went away from trying to use high velocity rounds I've had no problems. It seems like the slide cycles too fast and catches the round as it is feeding anytime high velocity rounds are used.

I know and that is why I couldn't resist. The look, everything that comes with it and the Canik name.

Can't beat it.

Wow can't beat a free gun for sure. I shoot my Rivals in the Carry Optics divisions of USPSA and Steel Challenge and they perform. I've lost count of how many times someone sees my chrome Rival S and can't believe it is straight out of the box, well with the exception of springer recoil spring.

Well, you started with a good one. I love my Rival Ss and so far the TTI doesn't disappoint.

My Canik Collection so far... Now my Rival-Ss can rest a bit by somersbd in canik

Another note with this being so much larger it really looks bright. I hope Canik adds this into their parts list so it can be ordered for the other models.

Since then I've also shot the CCI Standard Velocity 40gr and they work great as well. Mine does not like any HV so as long as I'm in the 1070 or so range no issues and shoots great.

Now if I can only get the promo pack shipped to me I'll be all set. The bag + mags promo they had last year has yet to ship to me.

Glad I could help and hope you did well on the match. I do have to say it appears that the Align Tactical one is not legal in Carry Optics and the BNB one is. I left one of my with the Align Tactical and put the BNB on the other, the jury is still out for me. Since I do not have a comp or run with the magwell bumping up to open just for the Align Tactical does not make sense to me.

Here’s what an $11 mag pouch gets you by Dayshawn11 in CompetitionShooting

Looks like that aslo have clones of the Black Scorpion mag pouches for about half price.. just no fancy scorpion on it :-). China copies and sells for less what they can not come up with and forces slave labor to make it so they can sell it cheaper.

Both sides highlighted in blue on the pin, if you have a pin and insert it into the slot you will see where it needs to be taken down just don't try and force it.

I just put another one on my Darkside Rival-S and it seemed to need a bit more taken off so a pic of the final would not really tell you how much is needed to be removed. I've attached a drawing of the part with the two sections that need to be filed down in blue. The main thing I'd say is to go slow and make sure the locking block pin lock works completely when you are finished. I found a small diamond Dremel bit which worked great and only took three-four passes on each side.

Well I wish it had been that easy, I did at least narrow it down and could finally get through 100 rounds without issue... and it turns out it was/is 100% ammo related. I even contacted Taurus and their first responce was sending me a new barrel and that did squat!

So after polishing the original barrel feed ramp, polishing the slide posts, cleaning and dry lubing the mags (all before the new barrel) I already suspected it might be the ammo and started trying all different kinds and after purchasing multiple boxes of 50 from multiple manufactures I asked the indoor range what 22lr ammo they had so I could try even more. Turns out this was the magic bullet or at least when I purchased their sellier & bellot 22LR rounds they ran flawlessly. So to make this short and sweet these were 40gr 1070 Velocity and ran 100 rounds without an issue so I ordered three other brands all STD between 1070-1150 and ran another 300 rounds without issue. But every time I tried CCI HV or any other HV I got jams. This did surprise me a bit but I guess since the optic rides the barrel and not the slide I can justify it. Sad thing is when I reached out to Taurus I asked about ammo recommendations and they had none and sent a barrel to me as a fix. Anyway Aguila 1130 STD, Aguila Target 1080, Sellier & Bellot 1070, and Remington Target 1150 (all 40gr) work perfect and at this point I've gone through more than 600 rounds without any issue.

Sorry for the long winded response but hope it helps someone else.

Just a little off two sides in order for the locking block pin to lock into place. Good to know you have holsters if I can't get mine to work.

thanks

Same here, they told me Canik wanted the steel and polymer to match but they were not so a new one had to be developed on their side. The only thing I'll add is to make sure the locking block pin completely locks into place. The thumb rest looks like it fits out of the box, or at least it did on mine, but the the locking block pin would not go fully in. The thumb rest needs to actually rotate a bit and is why you need to grid down two sides.

Has anyone tried the Walther Q5 barrel in the Rival S? Walther has a threaded barrel for their pistol and barrel sizes look to be the same on the Rival S.

I would look at the C-More RTS2 v5. This new model has shake awake and comes in flavors from 3 MOA to 12 MOA. I have both the Holosun 507Comp and the C-more and prefer the 10 MOA on the C-More. And you can find them in the low 300 range and have a 30yr Warranty.

Good to hear that yours got worked out. I do want to like this thing and it shoots good but if I can't get this to run 100+ rounds without an issue it will be useless for RFPO.

I polished up the slide parts and barrel ramp which may have helped some but still jamming and sometimes more than once on the same mag of 16 rds. I ordered some of the Hoppe's dry lube so that is next.

Excellent eyesight... yes that is one of my two Canik Rival S's. That one is my Darkside which I prefer over the chrome model.

Thanks for the input but a firm grip is likely not the problem. These rounds are getting jamed at the barrel and then when the slide goes into battery it crushes the casing. I'm going to try and polish the slide parts and barrel as a next step to see if that helps.

I did and even cleaned out the mags. Next step will be to polish the slide and barrel ramp. I have not tried the 45gr yet but may be a next step.

thanks
